The chart and sign in the villa have it pretty much spot on. I would like to add a couple notes.

  • Collin dyes the skins, not the final product. If you want armor to have been dyed camouflage, you'll need to bring eight skins, hides, or pelts that have already been tanned to him.
  • Wax, studs, rings, and scales are applied to the skin, not the finished product.
  • The note mentions the need for a tanning room, but this is obviously not necessary if you have a home and have purchased a vat and a tanning drum.
  • After vigorous testing, the quality of the crafted item has little to do with your level of armor skills, and more to do with the skin used and your own level of craftsmanship.

Chart in the Tanning Villa

A piece of crafted armor requires a minimum of skins shown:

Gloves 2
Tasset 2
Boots 3
Mask 3
Coif 3
Helm 3
Gorget 3
Vambraces 3
Shirt 4
Leggings 4
Greaves 6
Tunic 6
Armor 8

Wax: Applied to harden leather
Studs: Applied to produce studded leather
Rings: Applied to produce ringmail leather
Scales: Applied to produce leather jazeraint

Note: Ringmail cannot be used in the crafting of helms, coifs, masks, gloves and boots.

Welcome to Tegaro Tannery!
The following outline shows how tan skins and craft your very own armor!

TANNING PROCESS:
----------------
You will need the following items -
A fleshing knife
A scudding knife
A bottle of tanning agent
A tanning room
Appropriate skins, hides, or pelts

Step 1) FLESH skin with fleshing knife
Step 2) Put skin/s in soaking vat
Step 3) Put skin/s and tanning agent into tanning drum (then TURN the drum; this part takes a while!)
Step 4) SCUD skin/s with scudding knife
Step 5) DYE SKIN while holding the dye jar (this step is optional)

You now have fully tanned skins, hides, or pelts (and perhaps dyed ones as well) that are ready to be crafted into light armor!

ARMOR CRAFTING:
---------------
You will need -
Bundle of enough skins to craft the armor (see chart)
The appropriate armor pattern
Enough skill to make the desired piece (CRAFT LIST)
Attachments (optional)
An armor kit

Step 1) While holding the bundle and pattern, CRAFT <armor item>
Step 2) Once the pattern has been set, hold the project and armoring kit and continue to CRAFT <armor item>

Enjoy!

* Please note that only like hides can be used together when crafting armor, and that dye makes no difference when used for tailoring. *
