|
|
I've noticed this type of a thing happen several times and am thinking it's a sutle type of bug, it doesn't happen every time, just most of the time I apply dermagel to different severity of wounds. Notice how I applied it everywhere, but only the higher severity were healing. It's happened the same way if I applied to the worse wounds then the slights, the slights would heal while the bruised/injured wouldn't.

You have a slightly scuffed head, a slightly scuffed right eye, an injured chest, a slightly scuffed back, a bruised left hand, a slightly scuffed right hand, and a slightly scuffed left leg.
You are badly wounded and tired.
Your inner focus is at full strength.
apply derma to kel right eye
You carefully apply some of the dermagel to your right eye.
apply derma to kel right hand
You carefully apply some of the dermagel to your right hand.
apply derma to kel back
You carefully apply some of the dermagel to your back.
You feel a tingling sensation, and your head wound looks much better.
apply derma to kel left leg
You carefully apply some of the dermagel to your left leg.
The tingling sensation fades as your left eye is restored to full health.
>apply derma to kel left hand
You carefully apply some of the dermagel to your left hand.
That was the last of the dermagel.
>get dermag
You get a jar of Majesty brand dermagel from a derma pouch.
apply derma to kel chest

I checked it out and don't see any obvious cause for this. The healing of locations is not in any way linked and it should happen that healing always occurs in the order of application unless some of the applied areas heal completely. _________________ "Wise men talk because they have something to say; fools, because they have to say something." -- Plato

I also noticed that when I was healing my friend that somewounds weren't healing, when I think back Ibelieve they might have been the slights, and when I think more about some of the people I'vehealed I think Carimei's right.
EDIT
I just tried this on someone, applieddermagel to their left eye (slightly scuffed) and right eye (bruised) and the bruised one when to scuffed, the left eye stayed the same. |

Natural healing is buggy too. Only one thing will heal at a time, no matter how many wounds you have, and I believe only the worst wound will heal.
I've had random scuffing on various body parts after some light hunting, and then went on to play for over 14 hours without hunting the whole time, and not even healed but half way. It takes huge amounts of time for just 1 healing 'pulse', and 1 and only 1 body part will heal at a time, and not necessarily fully heal.
It's horribly annoying. _________________ Dragoonseal |

I just checked this out and found that natural healing -definitely- does not work as you described, Dragoonseal, but it could easily appear so.
Each health pulse (1 minute intervals) you have a random chance based partially on vitality (and race if you're Darju) that each would you have will heal. It is technically possible to have wounds in 10 different spots heal at once, though unlikely. Characters with very high vitality will certainly notice this more often though.
The severity of the wound is not considered at all when this random roll is done, and all wounds get a roll. _________________ "Wise men talk because they have something to say; fools, because they have to say something." -- Plato

Ok, that would explain what its doing then, but its kind of the same effect.
Question, do you receive messaging every time a wound heals, or just when a wound heals enough to bring it down a damage range?
Also, in regards to the way it works, why random? Its just making it so which ever wound gets lucky, heals, and is doing what I described before, in hours time, only 1 or 2 wounds will heal any, and every other wound on your body just sits there not healing for some odd reason.
Why can't everything just constantly heal? If you have really low vitality just make sure the pulses not only come slowly, but also the amount you heal be very low. Actually you could even have a random element for how much you heal, and even a limited one for when you heal. But the current random element makes it so you 1 wound will only heal every couple of hours.
Hmm, come to think of it, the way its set up now wouldn't be too bad, its just that I don't believe its scaled very well for low vitality. Perhaps something like exponentially increasing the chances of a wound healing, but also drastically reduce times between pulses?
Random is bad. Healing is not random. <g> _________________ Dragoonseal |

Doesn't mentality factor into natural healing, too? I may be wrong, but I would think that it would help a little in the random roll deal..

Whats mentality have to do with your body healing? I would think that'd be all vitality... |

Mentality: This measures the strength of one's mind. This has a direct bearing on the characters mental powers (psionics), the resistance to such powers, and the amount of focus points that the character has. Mentality is very important for Psionics in particular. Mentality is also a measure of how well you can handle stress and focus on a hard task, and therefore factors into many things, like healing wounds when you're injured or faced with the mortal peril of someone you are healing. |

It might be just me but that appears like they were talking about when you were actively healing with something, not just natural regeneration. |

Mentality has nothing to do with healing, and Brenton is correct in that it shouldn't.
As for the random thing... a few points of note:
- All players receive their health pulse at the same time, because it's easier on the system to do it this way. So there are no quick or slow pulses. BTW, the health pulse includes other things too like hp/sp/fp regen, bleeding, making sure that your max hp, sp, fp are correct, wearing off of makeup, and acid damage pulses.
- Natural healing is intended to be slow so that Medics remain useful and Darju biogeneration is also notably nice as a perk. And hey, how many games like this even -have- natural healing of actual wounds?
- Vitality has a great deal to do with regen and as it is trained, there is a very significant increase in regen, but as is intended, regen will never be nearly as nice as real healing methods.

Now it's behaving worse, the bug should be pretty evident. But to summarize it... I applied dermagel to three different places, and it only heals the last spot. This seems to happen no matter where I apply it. Also, can we get more uses of dermagel per jar, even if they charge more for it?
