This site lets you donate rice to the UN's World Food Program, by testing your vocabulary in a little game.
http://freerice.com/index.php
My score, for those curious... my vocab level high was 41 or 42, but I average 40, after donating about 5,200 grains of rice.
Edit: After thinking about this and doing some research, I wouldn't really say this is a very charitable site. It doesn't claim to be non-profit, and the rate of rice (10 grains per *correct* answer) is miserable. Any of us could give a good ~10 hours worth of clicking away by just donating enough money to buy a pound of rice.
Still, it's a cool vocabulary site. Unfortunately, it's impossible to know if the site operator is really helping the poor much despite stingy corporate supporters, or if this is just a money making ploy. _________________ "Wise men talk because they have something to say; fools, because they have to say something." -- Plato

The site is making it's rounds (I've seen it linked in a lot of places), and while one person clicking away wouldn't donate a lot, by pure bulk of the people using it I'm sure they end up giving a notable amount.
I'm sure they'd be in trouble if each user they get each day could make a reasonable amount of rice themselves. _________________ A bright-eyed Thekko Ku Kalla dressed in a dapper sailor suit takes to flight and careers through the air toward the Modan Kucho and slams into him!

Another interesting thing here is that it seems entirely plausible to make a bot for this site, and I'm sure that has happened or will. I'm not entirely sure how'd they'd prevent that. _________________ "Wise men talk because they have something to say; fools, because they have to say something." -- Plato

they probably don't care. Most CPM rates already take into account things like bots, adblockers, and the like, so the advertisers don't care that much. that kind of damage was done forever ago to web ad rates.
And it would shock me if they didn't take things like bots into account when setting things up in the first place (like if there's a throttle with how fast you can answer or something like that). _________________ A bright-eyed Thekko Ku Kalla dressed in a dapper sailor suit takes to flight and careers through the air toward the Modan Kucho and slams into him!

I for one am proud to announce that your local QA GM managed to average around 41 with peaks at 47!
Oh, and some rice too |
