Unfortunately, no, only letters, no numbers or punctuation, and names are first / last combo. Like MO, only the first/last name combo is unique, so you can have many people named Fred, many people with last name Smith, but only one Fred Smith.

Oh weird. I'm so used to DR, where if someone has a name thats it. There is only one Fred, regardless of last names. So this should be pretty cool <g>. _________________ Dragoonseal |

See, I couldn't understand DR and the one-name thing. That's how people ended up with downright silly names. Anyone had a normal-sounding name, you knew they had to have been playing forever.

I think it's to give that "fable" sense to characters. For example, how many people know Merlin, Arthur, Lancelot, etc's names, and of those many many use them when speaking of these characters?
For a more modern game it makes more sense. It's also more difficult to code a game that uses dual name parsing, as I often evidenced in MO, tho I have to say our tools make it much easier.

I know why they do it, but it's still frustrating. I remember trying desperately to come up with a realistic-sounding name and they would all be taken. It's hard to create a real persona when you're bogged down by choosing a name, which should be the simplest part.

Got my name figured out already, I think it's pretty cool sounding if I do say so myself, though you'll all have to wait months to hear?/see it.

I got kind of annoyed in DR when I started seeing stupid names like "Blazingheart Battlefist" (not actually a player that I saw, just an example ) or, in TF, "Killmagesded Ikillmages" (and he WAS an actual player)... MO, and now Haelrahv's way of doing names is much better. ;D _________________ Something wicked this way comes... |

MAtching first names is a good thing. That means I'll likely be able to use my staple names without fear of someone else randomly grabbing them somehow!
I got so annoyed in DR when I tried to pick a name that I use for characters and having to alter it until it was accepted. I hope this also means we won't be seeing names like "Kaassaannddrraa" and the like. ;D _________________ Help! Help! I'm being oppressed! |

Sticking to the CM theme. When we 'exit' the character manager will we always emerge in the some city or will it be a random affair?
My belief is it should be random, thereby your population majority will not necessarily be congregating in one city all the time and it will make people actually explore some of their surroundings.
But then again this is only my 1.75 cents worth (inflation rate is killing me ) _________________ ~My Reality Check Bounced~

It will be in one city to start with, though once there's a large enough player base we hope to spread it out. Hopefully the teleporting jewelery will let people spread out a little more without feeling like they're alone in the world. _________________ ~Hunter~ |
