Assuming hunting "at or near level", generally speaking.

The first option, quick fights with low pay is what we have now, right?

Truth be told, I wasn't really thinking about the current treasure system when I decided on the poll, but now that I think about it, fights are pretty quick all things considered, so it does justify existing smaller payouts. Either way, I was interested more for the sake of where I'd take the system changes when they happen and in getting a feel for what you'd like to see on the whole. From a dev standpoint, there are pros and cons for either.

That's a toughie, most of the time during a mob scene, I'm not thinking about treasure. I'm just trying to make sure the streets are safe for the young folks. I'm all for bigger treasure but to have them long and drawn out and it's a mob of them? The droids at the warehouse are way lower in levels compared to my char and yet they take a while to kill off which is a real pain when you get no experience(at my level) or trasure from them. And it gets really bothersome when you got more coming in changing from a one-on-one to a four-on-one. Maybe the area is overpowered, I don't know. I would hate to walk into town with an outbreak of droids with the prime directive: "Kill all organic lifeforms" in their program. How about we test out a mob scene that has longer fights with bigger payouts first to see if we like it or not? Heh.

If the mob scene is supposed to be at or near your level, wouldn't it be unfair for those those people there that arent at or near your level? What if Suzie who is level 40 takes on a mob that is at her level, in walks in Joe who is level 80. If he decided to take on the mob, will the fight be longer even tho the mob is half his level? If he kills them quick, will the treasure be bigger or smaller? Or since the mob level is supposed to be at or near Susie's level, will the fight still be longer for Joe because the fights are supposed to be longer in order to get bigger treasure? Or will there be a mix as usual and we'll just have to know from experience which ones are at or near our level that we can take on and get the bigger treasure?

Mob(ile) = ahab = critter = npc. Sorry for the confusion.

I like shorter fights 'cause being able to take down a bunch of critters fast makes me feel like a badass. Ha!

Hmm...Good question

When you say a longer fight are you referring to:

The length of a hunting session or how long it takes me to take down one Mob?

What I mean is for a longer fight are we talking about how long it would take me to clear a room of mobs. Say that more mobs will come spawning into the room as I fight one. Or you just up the "Life Expectancy" of the one mob?

I hope these questions make any sense at all....

EDIT: Nevermind I think is was answered earlier

maybe a better way to look at this is to see how long it takes you to kill things at level, and if you would rather it take longer (with the trade off being that the treasure then gets better).

example: it takes me 10-20 seconds to kill things at-level (kucho / dred / voya khaz / radan). i'd rather each fight last 30-45 and wouldn't be against a fight lasting a minute.

BUT, i'd also want a smaller cap on how many critters can attack you at once. right now it's 4 or 5 (i think). i'd rather it go down to 3 or lower the gen rates a tad.

Yeah, if we're gonna have longer fights, then I'd want a lesser amount of crites coming at me at the same time. It would be hard for some to retreat if they're overwhelmed. Especially if they arent skilled in retreating or have the inviso potion/spell. Also, if we do go with the longer fights and bigger pay out, will there be a flag that will check our stats and downgrade our pay out if we take on a crite that way below our level?

One of the pros of longer combat WOULD be slowing down the critter generators, which means less npc "processes" running.

I'm not going to vote, because in a perfect world (and I know Mickey can make it perfect, mmm hmm) we'd have a choice of critters to fight at our own level, depending on our mood.

Typically I have a critter I hunt for fast kills and treasure. Then I go way over my head and hunt something else for sport and a good fight which usually takes alot longer to kill, if I am indeed the winner. If that payout was better, I think more people might actually challenge themselves in a fight.

After getting to melee range, (or already at melee for crypt stuff), and using quickness potion, which I always do, the average battle for me lasts 4-8 seconds or so. I like short fights mainly because I built my character for such. Kill fast, get the fuck out of there before they hit you.
