We could make a tool to make it easier to find others for group hunting and such. A lot of larger graphical mmorpg's have this sort of feature. It could even be expanded to include LFG (Looking for Group) options like "hunting" groups, "social" i.e. RP or hangout groups, and such.
However the big question is, given the small population, would -you- use such a tool often? _________________ "Wise men talk because they have something to say; fools, because they have to say something." -- Plato

i'm saying no, not because it's a bad idea, but because i just can't see it doing that much in HR as of now.
with around 15-30 active players, and with most having comms if not telepathy, i'm not sure what this option would offer that a simple think or transmit can't accomplish. would it flag people in the WHO? that might be nice.
if anything, i'd like to see it for the RP stuff more than the hunting stuff, unless the hunting stuff allows you to include what range you'd be interested in hunting. _________________ A bright-eyed Thekko Ku Kalla dressed in a dapper sailor suit takes to flight and careers through the air toward the Modan Kucho and slams into him!

*Falls to the floor, twitching and rithing as the words LFG are spoken...Flash backs of countless hours of sitting in the final missions of Guild Wars, spamming LFG every 5 minutes fill his skull*
Seriously though, I'd rarely use it. I hate hunting in groups, and I prefer rp to be a bit more random than organizing groups through an in-game command. I may use it here or there though. _________________ Victim: Well, what is the creed?

What I had in mind, if I did it, was something like this:
Code: |
>LFG LIST
Name Looking For (SOCIAL)
---------------------------------------------------------
Yaru Dex Hanging out in the park.
Name Looking For (HUNTING, LEVEL 100)
---------------------------------------------------------
Trevor Rage Killing beasts of mega doom, medic needed.
Leeroy Jenkins Lots of people to go hunt epic ur-grues.
Name Looking For (HUNTING, LEVEL 40-45)
---------------------------------------------------------
Fred Smith General hunting, anyone welcome. |
LFG COMBAT, LFG SOCIAL options would filter as expected, and LFG <##> would filter out only level-matching combat lists. I agree it might not be all that useful here, but hey, that's why there's a poll. _________________ "Wise men talk because they have something to say; fools, because they have to say something." -- Plato

I think it's a neat idea. There's plenty of times that I log in and just feel like hanging out and socializing as opposed to hunting and foraging (both of which I prefer to do alone). CC is nice when people are around, but often it's been empty and I'd really rather not just transmit "Hey, I'm lonely. Someone come entertain me." Not my style.
I guess what I'm trying to say is that I'd really like to see this IG and I definitely would use it regularily. _________________ "The cruelest thing you can do to a person is make her ashamed of her own complexity."-FFOL

I guess this isn't too bad an idea as my initial response (when I voted no, hurf durf). As long as people don't start transmitting/telepathying...

...I'll be happy. If enough people use it, there might be more impetus to implement more difficult hunting zones. Zones that practically require a group for any chance of survival. Those are always A+ in my book.
