Another topic, since we were asked to give our input...

How do you all pronounce the names of the non-human characters you play?

Dzynna = Zeenuh
Lzaki == Zaykee
Hzalo == Zaylow

Zol (last name of all above) == Zol (with a long o)

Riwa Voei == Reewuh Voeh (with a long o)

My husband also plays (sometimes), his characters are pronounced (according to him) as:

Sawa Voei == Sawuh Voeh (with a long o) [Riwa's twin brother!]

Oda Aisoa == Ohduh Laughing Aysoh

Kaminari Shiro == Kahmeenaree (with the 'ar' sounding like the word are) Sheeroh

Acosae Eshai has to be one of the easier names to pronounce.

Uh-co-say Ee-shay.

Whee.

"Tre-vor Rage" It's kind of difficult to pronounce, but you can get the hang of it.

Yeah, that Tre-vor Rage is sure a character...not sure he's even human either.

'Zjeid' Venra. The j is pronounced like english y, the r trills somewhat, the v is soft and the a is like the english expression 'uh.' its almost as if the name was being growled or pronounced like a russian might. my story has always been the last name fits darjuan standards, but the first name is distinctively human. jade, the character, still has her darjuan accent, so she cant pronounce her name in the clear-cut human style without considerable effort.

Shinobu and Jiro Yamagawa both follow the japanese pronunciation system, just like with Kaminari Shiros name. theres quite a story surrounding them, too.

Kala Kenme .. again, shes darju. the k sound comes more from the back of the throat than the dry, explosive burst it would be in human pronunciation. The final 'e' is almost like the human 'eh'.

Tan Thare'uil .. ill leave this up to the way the eolai settle their pronunciation system. The 'l' is silent. he has 'native american' human and eolaish heritage.

Tdemna Tago .. ive hardly done much with her and she will most likely be scrapped. i fiendishly used her to get a feel for post-combat-fix changes from a newbies perspective. shes darju too, but if i could hedge a guess, id say the name would sound all right by an african pronunciation.

.. linguists of the world, unite. Wink
