[The Edge of the World]
The path ends abruptly at an outcropping of rock that hangs over the edge of a vast drop. Where once stood an abundance of grass and the occasional tree, now there is only rock and the occasional blade of grass hanging tentatively onto the rocks. A metal bench sits off to one side with an unobstructed view of the cloudless abyss.

::armchair GM:: my bet is that they, for whatever reason, stopped going back along the walkway and instead get stuck there
edit: by the by, i get a bug error when trying to dismiss royal engineers
