...for those of you who don't go holiday shopping now! *grin*

Here's a link to show you some of the companies who are better than others about providing equal benefits to their customers and employees:

Its made a difference about where *I* will be shopping this winter.

Cracker Barrel is infamous for being anti-gay. Which is funny considering it's clientelle.

i feel bad for the companies that are ranked so low just because they don't write "PS: DONT HARASS THE GAYS" in their manuals.

It's the first I've heard of it. "Infamous" is more like Denny's being racist.

Its not so much an issue that they haven't written that, its more of an issue that they HAVE written policy telling people not to sexually harass women...and that's it. Its not that difficult to amend it to read don't sexually harass anyone. period. for whatever reason.

Code:
In 1991, Cracker Barrel instituted a policy requiring employees to display "normal heterosexual values which have been the foundation of families in our society." The company refused to change their policy in the face of protest demonstrations by gay rights groups, but in 2002, the company's stockholders voted to rescind the practice after ten years of efforts by the New York City Employees Retirement System, a major shareholder.

They apparently have that, too:

Code:
Early in the 2000s Cracker Barrel faced accusations including a pattern of racial discrimination in its treatment of customers. After national press attention to these accusations, the company announced explicit policies intended to address the charges, and the most prominent critics have not repeated their criticisms. Stores now display a sign in their front foyer clarifying this policy, as has become the policy after a similar incident involving Denny's restaurants.

I went to Cracker Barrel last night and had grilled chicken tenderloins, hash brown casserole, dumplins, biscuits, and chocolate cobbler with pecans and ice cream. I guess that makes me a naughty boy this Christmas.

And speaking of Christmas... I found this interesting and even semi-relevant to the thread.

I wish I could be cool like that. The size of my paychecks determines what I will be purchasing this winter. ^.^;

Merry Christmas to those that celebrate.

Happy Sunday to those that don't. Smile
