Any chance of having a device made for a home that would silence all thoughts and comms chatter from outside?

If you dont know why I ask, spend a night in Llanfair.

A solution in a way, but was curious about something more universal to the home.

Was thinking more of a dampening device, but I'm not up on the lore of how thoughts are blocked, so I'll not comment further.

I thought the ferrionerres or however they're spelled were thought-dampeners. But I don't use em, anyway. Zafri likes to listen in to the voices in her head, and occasionally comment, whereas my new little Medic Ceiharie is Alteri so telepathy is just part of who she is.

That would be really cool to make! *.* You can put it in a room and all thoughts and comm transmitions could be blocked....maybe even locates and GPS could be hindered.

It'd be nice if blocking thoughts from entering a home would involve Psionics to some extent.

Likewise, if blocking communicator transmissions involved a Technician.

I'd rather it be strictly in the Psi/Tech domain...but I'm not holding my breath. Razz

I was under the impression you already couldn't locate people who were inside homes.

Beast could find Dixie in her home. That's not locating...that's the GPS system. Having a dampener for that would be interesting.

...can't you just turn off your comms?

and vyeftium (sp) is what is used to block thoughts.

Why not have something else to block thoughts too? This would only be for the room it was in. And besides, it's cool and techy.

Any particular reason your against the suggestion? I asked for something home wide, and something that effects both comms and thoughts. The solutionS you named involve wearing further items, purchasing said items and only effects one person, not the entire home or anyone else in it.

Frankly, I love the other suggestions made (being a psionist and all) and would love to hear the thoughts of someone on staff.

...because vyeftium is the only metal that can block thoughts. that's just the way it is unless some new magical psionic-blocking metal comes into existance. i'm not saying the worn item is the only way to block thoughts, just that the metal it is made of is the only one that can do so.

i'm not against the idea, i'm just saying (a) no need to block comms since you can shut them off and (b) vyeftium is expensive and is what would most likely be needed, ICly, to block psionic things.

as you said, you're not aware of the lore of how psionic things are blocked. vyeftium is the metal that does it. in no way am i saying that ferronires are the way to go (or should always be the only option available), but that's 110% the metal that would be used ICly to block thoughts.

Okay...so you make the device outta vyeftium. And it's not THAT expensive. I can mine it fairly easily while hunting. And I get a lot of vyeftium boxes I could melt down too (theoretically).

Also, this is a scifi game. We could come up with some way to...I donno...cause whatever it is in vyeftium to vibrate in a room and block all psionic powers to be used there.

Turning on something in a house that will block psionics isn't impossible. And it won't hurt your buisness of selling thought blockers either...they'd just be one room, not something you can walk around with and have work.

Your arguement is that it would take vyeftium...which is now somewhat easily obtainable now.

And it would ROCK if we had machine molds and could smelt our own metal to make casings for things.
