I figured out why I can't get 'a sliding glass door.'

Code:
Please choose an option for your home:

1. Add or edit exits from one room to another in your home.
2. Edit a room's name or description.
3. Move or remove a piece of furniture.
4. Designate a room as a lab or workshop.
5. Remove a room's designation as a lab or workshop.
6. Modify the appearance of your home's main exit.
7. Add an additional room to your home.
8. Add or remove a personal imaging center to a room in your home.
9. Exit this system.

1

Please choose an option:

1. Add a cardinal exit to a room (north, down, out, etc.)
2. Add a portal exit to a room (door, archway, stairs, etc.)
3. Remove a cardinal exit from a room.
4. Remove a portal exit from a room.
5. Rename a room's portal exit.
9. Return to main menu.

2

Please choose which room to add an exit to:

1. Murphy Technical Center, Workshop
2. Murphy Technical Center, Storeroom
3. Murphy Technical Center, Office and Lounge
4. Underground, The Hub
5. Underground, Aquarium Kitchen
6. Murphy Technical Center, The Back Lawn
7. Murphy Technical Center, Grove Terrace
8. Murphy Technical Center, Stony Grotto
9. Underground, Master Bedroom
10. Underground, T.E.C.H. Meeting Room
11. Underground, Not-So-Secret Lab

>1
1. Murphy Technical Center, Storeroom
2. Murphy Technical Center, Office and Lounge
3. Underground, The Hub
4. Underground, Aquarium Kitchen
5. Murphy Technical Center, The Back Lawn
6. Murphy Technical Center, Grove Terrace
7. Murphy Technical Center, Stony Grotto
8. Underground, Master Bedroom
9. Underground, T.E.C.H. Meeting Room
10. Underground, Not-So-Secret Lab

Please choose which room to connect to:

>5
You will be connecting the following rooms:
  Murphy Technical Center, Workshop
Murphy Technical Center, The Back Lawn

Please choose what type of portal will lead between these rooms.  Valid choices are: arch, archway, door, doorway, opening, and passage.
Invalid choice.  Please choose from arch, archway, door, doorway, opening, and passage.

>arch
Please choose an adjective for this portal.  For instance, if the portal is "arch" you might choose adjective "marble", or if it is a "door" you might choose something like "heavy".  You can skip adding an adjective by just pressing enter.
Please choose the full name of this portal, such as "a heavy gaoun wood door".  The name must include the word "arch".
>glass

The portal name must include the word "arch".
The portal name must include the word "arch".

It seems as if the system automatically hits an extra 'enter' for me.

No, you automatically get matching portals. You can go back and rename one of them with the rename portal option.

Or maybe I misunderstood your post. You said sliding glass door, but you clearly entered arch there.

Oh, I was confusing myself. I had said I couldn't get 'a sliding glass door' in another post.

What I'm saying is that I can't rename a portal...or rather...I can, it gets up to the 'add an adjective or just hit enter' part and before I can actually do anything, it automatically seems to hit 'enter.' Therefore, I can't seem to get an adjective to be attached to my portals.

Edit:

Just tried again.

Code:
Please choose which portal to modify:

1. a storeroom door
2. glass arch

2
Please choose a type of portal.  Valid choices are: arch, archway, door, doorway, opening, and passage.
Invalid choice.  Please choose from arch, archway, door, doorway, opening, and passage.

I type '2' and it's like it hits enter twice. I didn't type anything...and it automatically came up with 'invalid choice.' Maybe it's the crappy front end I use at work cause I can't seem to dl wizard.

Edit again:

It was the crappy front end I'm using at work. Telnet let me do it just fine.

Not really a bug I guess....

When you try to just order a 'plain' table it actually costs more than a rustic table does. Also, can the chairs on the Echak shop please be reduced to 1 square?

probably because rustic means "worse quality" in this sense.

not all adjectives probably mean it's of a better quality.

Fishing question. I received the following bug report:

"I lost my bait three times in a row fishing at kit's home.. without getting a vibration or nibble message."

Is anyone else getting nibble messages? You -should- be and I know you don't always get them. So I'd like to determine if this is a bug or just bad luck on the reporter's part before I go digging.

I tried to look for the answer to this, but couldn't find it.

I can't lock any interior doors.

It's posted on my to-do list as of... like 10 minutes ago, in the home updates thread.

Not sure how stoves are going to work when they are made available, so I don't know if this is a bug or not. My stove needs to be on the ground to work even in my home.

Stoves in homes will be on the ground anyway.

Then my question is, can I leave mine on the ground or will the janitor get it? Or if it's on the ground and I forget it and log out, will the janitor get it?

You can't leave any portable item on the floor in a home. The janitor only ignores stuff on the floor that's designated as a furnishing of some kind.

Some items don't seem to get janitorized. Ingot casting dies, for example.

When it comes to the (few) portable stoves and crucibles, better to be safe than sorry. Smile

Yeah actually... I just remembered the janitor will exclude any alchemy tools. But I wouldn't count on this staying so unless they are fixture types that can't be picked up.

Trev, the stove and crucible can't be moved physically or in the design terminal.

Also, It would be nice to have the option when selecting furniture to move to change your mind and go back to the main menu without selecting furniture.

Edit: Also, it doesn't take up space in a room eitherl
