After foraging up 10 full bundles of sirolei ivy:

I understand that sirolei is probably one of the easiest things to forage and that it shouldn't teach much, especially someone with 240 ecology.
However, considering that:
1) It takes me the same amount of time to forage a bundle of sirolei as it does to forage a bundle of the hardest thing to find.
2. I don't learn well even from foraging the hardest items. I had less than 5 nskill in ecology before the wipe, and I forage/mine almost non-stop.
and
3) I require sirolei for the projects I make. I have tried to purchase it and very few people are willing to take me up on my offer. Personally I felt $850 guaranteed per unrefined bundle regardless of market value or quantity was a damn good offer, even for newbies, but hey...some people have better things to do than forage.
I believe it should teach *something*.

My tracker does not learn nskills through surveying at all...but Kit learns 2-3% each time he surveys and nothing when foraging.

I've only foraged 8 bundles of sickle and have 0.11%, surveyed twice and it bumped it to 13%
doesnt seem to add up quite right _________________ Neifl Cacambo - "Anyone have change for a tampon?"

I almost always have my tracker around...my medic not so much....and my medic does other things besides forage. However...since everyone got their nskill changed, this is what I have in ecology. And Kit...who does as much foraging as my medic has not even 1 rank in ecology
Tracker: 7.5
Medic: 20
Tech: .07
My only idea for this is their levels.
tech is 98th
tracker is 40th
medic is 32nd
All of my 'young' characters gain nskills a lot easier than older characters. This makes it very very hard for older characters to gain nskill. It's unfair because older characters are going to be at a disadvantage when the new skill system comes out. Yah not sure about the eco nskill myself. I know in the last two days i have foraged right around 10,000 units... and my nskill is at .59%. Mined about the same and my mining is at 7.47 _________________ Neifl Cacambo - "Anyone have change for a tampon?"

I'm wondering if when the new skill system starts for good and we lose all the training points we have in all our skills, will we then be on equal ground? With not having level mean anything as far as learning skills. That's what I thought would happen.
I figured I'd start with the easiest foragable and learn as much as I could , then go on to the next easiest and so on, until I finally had to start putting my skill points in.

my ecology nskill is now at 9 even, i've foraged about 9 dedlas seed, and 2 sickle weed. about 2 days (actually about 2 -3 hours). ps these are bundles
mining nskill is 9.3 mined since change, appx 50 bundles of gold, and silver each ( gold bundles might be off little less not sure where was at mining wise on those during change, but is fairly close)
so it seems ecology is learning faster than mining by lot |

Thank you for looking into this, Trevor.
Also, just wanted to point out...even though the following has nothing to do with nskills, it goes along with the foraging:
1. Back to the RT being the same for the last forage in a bundle, regardless of how many units I'm getting with that forage (1 to 6).
2. It's 15 to 18 RT to forage 1 unit of wood (because wood isn't supposed to have multiple units if I remember correctly). Same goes for ayunda blossom, clover, and everything else that is only 1 unit.
3. Occasionally get a strange longer-than-10 RT for a fumble. _________________

The problem of the occasional 15 second fumble was asked before. I am looking for the link now, but Trevor's response was that the difference between the long and short "fumble" RT is:
There is a difference in the RT for a forage where you find nothing, and a forage that is a "fumble"

seriously, i dont know how many tens of thousands of units i have foraged, and my eco is only a 1.23. I guess i dont understand why since I know more ecology my nskill is slower than those that don't know as much ecology. Or any other skill for that matter. My 12th level performer who has...24 in ecology and has foraged maybe...1000 units, has 24 in ecology for her nskill. _________________ Neifl Cacambo - "Anyone have change for a tampon?"
