Why gray and grey? I know both are acceptable I just don't see why both need to be used. _________________ It is better to be pissed off than pissed on. |

It was not intentional. I'm sure there's a lot of both spellings in the game, also not by intent. This is a word that is very often spelled both ways in our language, and since I did 100% of the alchemy stuff, this is proof even I can't make up my mind, apparently.
I changed the spelling in Tincture of Magic to gray. Interesting to note that the potion itself was labeled "gray" when mixed, despite the description. _________________ "Wise men talk because they have something to say; fools, because they have to say something." -- Plato

Tad off topic, and probably asked before, but is it possible for the potions to be labeled as to what they are? The colors....are confusing. Or perhaps if not that, can the tap be the color and not the potion name? I get my set so confused. _________________ "I reject your reality and substitute my own!" -- Adam Savage

I would have to agree with Kit. Someone gave me a plague potion a long while ago and I was cleaning out my locker and it's a gut wrenching black potion and for the life of me i couldn't remember the name of it kept trying to get black potion get gut potion get wrenching potion and finally i just had to pull out all my potions to get it out. It would be nice if they went by their colors for tap, and it told you what they actually are when you look them or something. _________________ Sage. |

It's ironic that this query is in a thread about inconsistency, because the reason these items are named as such is for the same reason we don't call a katana with a bonus to bladed and intellect "an enlightening katana of swordsmanship", for example _________________ "Wise men talk because they have something to say; fools, because they have to say something." -- Plato

i think the problem is more that an orange potion's adjective is "strength" instead of orange, for example.
if we try to get an orange potion, we can't find it, but if we try to get a strength potion, we pick up the orange one.
(although, it would be ultra-cool if someone who knows the potion formula/information/etc would see it as "an orange potion of stregnth" instead of just "an orange potion"). _________________ A bright-eyed Thekko Ku Kalla dressed in a dapper sailor suit takes to flight and careers through the air toward the Modan Kucho and slams into him!

If I recall, it -used- to be named the other way, and the playerbase lobbied to have them named the way they are now, so go figure. _________________ Mickey Brunner

Yes, it's be great if the 'tap' and 'get' went with the discription rather than the formula name.
Though, to be fair, 'strength potions' could be labeled as such. _________________ "I reject your reality and substitute my own!" -- Adam Savage

As Mickey said, it used to be "orange" and people wanted it to be "strength", because you could have multiple orange potions. For instance, look at the gray potions. If you wanted to get a specific one and had both, you'd have to play the parse-guessing game. _________________ "Wise men talk because they have something to say; fools, because they have to say something." -- Plato
