NEWS 39.

I went from killing modan kucho quickly with Psychic Hammer(2-3 pulses, generally)...to killing him very slowly with Psychic Hammer.(Actually, I killed him with my guns, because hammer was going slow).

Notes:
You(or I, anyway) get a 3 second RT upon FOCUSing.
They seem to do quite a bit less damage.
Seems more difficult to hit your target.
Psychic Hammer stunned modan kucho once or twice.
You may now stack Psychic Hammer.

I'm assuming you may stack the others, as well.

Even with good ol' Modan lying down my hammers seemed to miss an awful lot.

Skills/Stats:

Psionic Ability : 200 (263)
Mentality : 80 (91)

I had Ward of Spirits, Ward of Mysticism and Ward of Legend up.

Last I heard, the Modan kucho is weak against blunt attacks, hence the use of Psychic Hammer. More details to come.(Perhaps)


I hope this means the 'next level' attack Psionics are somewhere on the horizon. Razz

Updates:
Spirit Slash, Spontaneous Combustion and Psychic Hammer have a 3 second focus time. Rime Cloud and Piercing Stare are 2 seconds.
Spontaneous Combustion has a chance to ignite the target.
No messaging for when a psionic attack dissipates.
Seem to pulse quicker.

I also had some serious issues last night hunting workers which I previously destroyed using piercing stare. Granted Im not anywhere near the same lvl or power, but I found myself to be much weaker and my focus to be gone drastically fast. I've been gone a few months and was extreamly disapointed to find how much weaker I seem to have become. Nothing like killing 2, then having to wait outside the wall for 3 minutes waiting for my focus back, where as I used to stand there for an extreamly long period of time hunting. ....Fun

My inner focus never dipped below 60% or so. I'm wearing two focus-boosting pendants, though.(Each one 'considerably' enhances focus)

Definetly noticing a little...weakness.

Spontaneous Combustion does not seem to teach anything under NSKILL.

Here's my attacks on wild olaetai:

Notes: Fresh olaetai for each attack. I had Balance up until the Psychic Hammer attack.

Stats with Balance: 53(61) Charisma, 52(70) Intellect and 80(8Cool Mentality.
Stats without: 53 Charisma, 60 Intellect, 80 Mentality

Definetly noticing a little...weakness.

Spontaneous Combustion does not seem to teach anything under NSKILL.

Here's my attacks on wild olaetai:

Notes: Fresh olaetai for each attack. I had Balance up until the Psychic Hammer attack.

Stats with Balance: 53(61) Charisma, 52(70) Intellect and 80(8Cool Mentality.
Stats without: 53 Charisma, 60 Intellect, 80 Mentality
Psionic Ability : 200 (250)




Probably has to do with lvl, but I also have pedants, a cloak and a robe all increasing focus...not to mention the talent. Really is hard to fight when im out of juice so fast.


Any thoughts staff?

I should note that psionics were previously way overpowered (some still are) and were not balanced at all with any other form of combat. It was a known issue and yesterday's change was intended to address it finally. I will look into whether things are now overbalanced, however.

Any idea what Glim should be hunting, as a level 75 Psionic? Assume I plan on using only psionics to hunt.

[07.20.05] The following changes have been made to Spontaneous Combustion, Spirit Slash, Psychic Hammer, Piercing Stare, and Rime Cloud:
- An error that caused invocation times to be higher than intended was corrected.
- A specific power can no longer be "stacked" on the same target.
- Psionic ability skill will now augment how many times the power hits the target before the power ends.
- Messaging is now properly given when a power ends effect on the target.
- The effects of these powers will now properly terminate on the target's death.

The way these powers work now, psionics can easily layer on several attacks at once in a relatively short time period, or layer on an attack then use conventional weapons. The intent here is to make specific powers effective but not enough to take things out on their own unless you spend a lot of time using them.

Psionics are in a big way a sort of hybrid class, and can use the tools at their disposal to make conventional arms more effective. At the same time, a psionic does have the option of only using psi powers in combat if they wish. Of course, focus pool management is a concern. Wink Proper use of Trance and other available options can minimize this impact on psi-only Psionics.

The higher end versions of these powers will be released soon too. I'd like to get telekinetic strike/swarm released soon too, as well as some of the fear powers.

I'm quite happy with psionics, now. I'm going to need to wear 20 focus pendants if I ever want to use just them, though. Razz

Spontaneous Combustion, Spirit Slash and Psychic Hammer are 1RT/2SPT. Rime Cloud and Piercing Stare are 1/1. This makes things much easier.(With previous times, the first psionic would run its course before the next was prepped)

After some initial trouble, this is working. I'd rather it didn't, but I can live with it. Razz

Rime Cloud: 9 hits

Wooo, cant wait to get my hands on some of these. Anyone who finds extra, just give me a thought or transmition, will purchase.

That is assuming ofcourse, that he didnt mean they are for sell already various places. ;-0 If thats the case, I would love to know as well!

By the way, im my previous post I mentioned the focus pool loss, I now realize that had to do with how much more often certain abilties were going off due to them now stacking. I would imagine now, the major impact is just that they are weaker, but I understand the reasoning.

The low level ones are available in two locations, the rest are in one. The only one that is available for purchase is Rime Cloud.
