You hack the droid once in it's life time currently. At 50th.

i thought you can hack as much as you want, and that it can help or hinder you.

nevermind.

You pretty much hack a droid for a few hours and it gives the droid an extra bonus of 1 to the things it gives bonuses to. Once you manage to hack it completely (around 50th you can do it completely), that's it.

You can mess up along the way, though. And you can hack other things besides just bonuses. It only took me like 15 minutes to hack everything completely when the system came out.

I did it when Kit was in his 40s and it took a few levels and hours to get it right. I think you get +6 to craft/repair/first aid/medicine/alchemy/lockpicking.... Not quite sure now. Kit's been getting +8s in everything, but I think that's cause he's nearing 90th.

I'm of insufficent level to hack my droid, and repairs are few and far between. Gadgets are about the only "tech" type exp gain I really get, and since there isn't a great demand for them, maybe I'll just build them and sell them to Shavcire, at least the parts I do have, after that I don't know what I'm going to do. Hunting things at my level usually result in death, anything below results in exp gain sure, but not what I'm looking for. I'm not here to power-level, I level when it's time to, but I'd much rather spend 4 hours tinkering, than out shooting at beasts.

you could always just vault them. i have a few vaulted backpacks and other artisan-made things in the event people want to buy.

You can hack it, get experience, get the droid reset to default levels and re-hack it if you want.

Gadgets are a way to make money, but you do have to get past the initial schematic/manual reading phase, which grants experience itself as well. You can sell gadgets to other players if you want, cause hey, spending 2k to buy a flashlight seems a helluva lot better than spending 100k for a merchant to make an item a light source and ruin a lot of realism. Anyway, that's a different discussion...

Once this other project is finally done, I'll be working on giving techs some new gadgets to make, things that actually WON'T be sold in stores (probably), things that probably half the populace might want to buy, depending on which way they swing. Not THAT kind of swing. Should be fun though. Smile
