You try to take in the knowledge contained on your schematic, but it's just beyond your grasp.
This is when I try to study the Droidlight Schematic. Now, I don't mind being too low a level to study it, what I am asking is, it gives me roundtime, of 60 seconds, does that mean that I am actually getting somewhere? I mean, if I start reading a book, and I don't understand the first and second page, I'm certainly not going to try to stumble through till the end. If it's intentional, rock on, if not, thank you.

You're probably not getting anywhere; alchemy tomes also give you an RT but no knowledge. On a positive side, it may not be level holding you back, but rather research and/or intelligence. |

It does ALMOST nothing for you; you do gain a TINY amount of knowledge, but you'll have to study it A LOT in order to get to the point where you can actually make anything. And I mean hours, and hours, and hours, and hours of studying. You're probably better off getting more experience, then trying again. _________________ Something wicked this way comes... |

You study your schematic fervently, barely grasping the concepts contained therein.
*Snicker* This is with the next promotion, AND plus 10 Intellect to a total of Nonbonused 30. I have nothing that gives intellect bonuses.
Also, Is the Droidlight supposed to get rid of the "It is dark here." message, because if it is, it's not. This is in the area with the Asapi, and the Eosheai. The Abandoned park, if I am not mistaken, as well as with the Chith's.
I try to keep my Tech type skills ceilinged out. I've heard there was a useful max, but at my 13th promotion, I don't think I have anywhere near reached it. Thank you. Also, great game!! |

Zap and I took Drake to Itora (where it's perpetually dark and you can't see the exits). All the droidlight does is illuminate the area slightly to see the exits. You'll need another light source to make the darkness go away. _________________ "I reject your reality and substitute my own!" -- Adam Savage

Kit, your quite likely the smartest person about Tech stuff, right up there with Thorne, Infierna, and Drake. And likely a few others that my fever fogged brain can't recall. My problem is this. My glow in the dark id bracelet makes more light then a lightbulb? I may regret this, because I can just see the Bracelet being Nerfed, but it doesn't make sense to me that a glow in the dark item can make more light then a supposed Rebuilt flashlight. It's very possible I am missing something, so feel free to point it out. If the Droidlight is not supposed to be a real light, then do flashlights do any better? And can I get my droid to carry one, to light my path? Thank you.

We had the same issues, Alex. My glow bracelet gave me more light then the droidlight. But Drake assured us that the droidlight was working as intented. I never gave it a thought to have a droid hold a flashlight...and I haven't tests flashlights at all. Do they light up the dark completely? _________________ "I reject your reality and substitute my own!" -- Adam Savage

it's quite possible droidlights are not meant to be floodlights that make everything perfectly clear. _________________ A bright-eyed Thekko Ku Kalla dressed in a dapper sailor suit takes to flight and careers through the air toward the Modan Kucho and slams into him!

And ID bracelets are?? I would more think that ID bracelet's would be ranged. You know, if it's work at the end of your wrist, great, it helps tremendously, but if your firing at Missile range, it would provide absolutely no light at all. Now, having said this, Drake has said that this is how it is supposed to be. I'm certainly not going to argue.
Thanks, Kit, I do appreciate it. I guess everything will definitely be straightened out by Live, it just didn't make sense to me. I'm glad I'm not the only one who had issues with it. |

Yes. When you touch it, it glows. My personal favourite is to rub it till it's black, and then touch it, and a dim black glow surrounds it. It's how I dig, it's how I forage, and it's how I do just about everything. I was hoping for a more realistic method, other then using the bracelet, like a light on a droid, that I could go to the excavation site, and be able to actually find stuff, so that I could let go of the bracelet, or stop carrying around a torch, that I have to drop each time I want to dig. Maybe a glowing shovel would be cool. I mean, here we are, the most advanced civilization, with things like pulse rifles, and we can't put a ruddy flashlignt on the handle of a shovel, or on a droid, and actually expect it to get rid of SOME of the dark. I don't want Miracles. I'm not expecting a light to be a floodlight. Though if that's the case, are we going to be able to use the Droidlight for aeons longer then the floodlights in the lab? Because they use the same equipment, they should either be as bright, or last a million times longer. This is not to say that I think Drake is wrong for how he sees this stuff working, just that if you use the same equipment, it should work the same way. I don't know what the answer is, but if someone has an arguement better then "It is because it is." I wouldn't mind hearing it. And I'm not referring to the difference in that Drake intended it to work this way. That makes sense to me, as he IS the builder of the Tech system. |

Some things work better/longer/differently than others, simply because I deem it so.
No, seriously, for balance issues and the like, things just work differently. Flashlights work for a long time, why? Cause they're hand-held for the most part. They take up some room. The flood lights drain bulbs pretty quickly cause they're flood lights, they make a brighter glow, therefore drain the bulbs very quickly. But, you don't have to put batteries in them, cause they're hooked up to the lab's electrical systems. I just make you change the bulbs cause I'm sadistic.
Droidlights should produce the same amount of light as any flashlight or torch or glow bracelet, since we don't measure amounts of light other than the fact that they're just lit up. We could probably do variable light sources, but I don't know if that's likely unless we get an elaborate stealth system into the game. _________________ Something wicked this way comes... |

you're questioning logic based on a very old and very outdated store item.
it does make little sense, but so did the underwear gnome and flying nun. _________________ A bright-eyed Thekko Ku Kalla dressed in a dapper sailor suit takes to flight and careers through the air toward the Modan Kucho and slams into him!
