The object(s) in question don't occur in the same frequency as the broken chains (which are actually mixed in with the regular stuff).

You also don't need Research to research it, if that's what you mean.

And, most importantly, while the object(s) in question are undoubtedly cool (at least in my opinion), I don't want you to let your expectations get blown eight times out of proportion as suspense builds; they're just, you know... cool. If some don't show up soon (assuming they haven't already; I was away three days on a business trip), I'll improve the frequency.

As for restoring the stuff now, I can't honestly say it was something we ever considered bothering with, since I'd rather find neater things to add/implement/etc. Most of the junk find now really is just junk, albeit profitable junk.
