This concerns the New Experience System Rollout (TM). The following changes are not set in stone, but most (if not all) or very likely to happen -- as a rule of thumb, expect the change.

1) I'm making life difficult for sub-par pet Performer characters. As such:
a) Luring will be notably harder.
b) The Lucky Man's Jig spellsong's prerequisite skill level is going to be raised in as little of a current-Performer-invasive manner as possible (unless it is invasive, in which case I apologize while pointing out that it's for the good of the profession).
c) Some other really cool stuff (as I determine it) will be loaded to the high end.

2) I'm making life difficult for opportunistic non-Performers. Racial spellsongs are going to be True Performer only. Ditto for most of the combat-skill oriented ones. I know this is going to unceremoniously sting the Mender's Verse/Great Mother Chant crowd, but we don't feel like sharing our evasion bonuses anymore. So, nyah.

3) Already mentioned repeatedly for several months, "offensive" spellsongs will be the exclusive domain of Performers. And there are a couple others in the works to upset people at the sparring grounds with.

If I can get around to it, I might show some of my blueprints later this week.

That sells itself, right there.

You're doing that on purpose. Sad

So will there be more spellsongs coming out that us non-performers will be able to learn?

Sad And boo on the racial spellsong thing. Maybe as a compromise, make it performers and specific race only?

Purposely making Performer a viable profession to play (as opposed to dabbling in), yes. Screwing you out of the tailoring bonus, no. Truth be told, you're one of a rare few that not only uses the Mender's Verse to productive effect, but actually uses it at all. I'm not so totally abhorrent of reaching some sort of compromise, because until instrument crafting/repair is in, Artisans and Technicians would gain the greater benefit of the spellsong. And I'm not opposed to tallying myself some Artisan cool points either, obviously.

I'm a little more hesitant about the Chant of the Great Mother, but I'm willing to investigate avenues for that too.

The Reel and Dance of Blades, though... I'm not going to budge; with meditations, techniques, etc already on the table (not to mention ludicrous amounts of combat bonuses floating around [IMO]), the combat min-maxers will just have to survive without an extra buff or two.

I see anything about techs and my eyes go whoom! Anyhow, while I know spellsongs are pretty awesome for their bonus giving, I can't really see Kit using them.

Then again, I have this plus 20 singing pin now I can't seem to get a good trade for...so maybe some spellsongs would be good to have.

Just a teaser, here are a handful of things I don't mind showing from my conceptual workbench.

The same as DIRGE. Basically, I'm doing away with the singular ability and replacing it with three alignment-based spellsongs.

It's like the Performer equivalent of the Cleanse power, except you use it on dead critter bodies. When you first get it, it just does focus, and then later as you keep levelling you also get stamina, then hit point, and eventually group coverage.

I'm going to update the thread sometime this upcoming week (with any luck), detailing more plans.

The Good
    * Spellsongs and abilities are going to be stretched further along the level range.
    * Roundtimes on several spellsongs will be lowered.
    * Most of the combat-buff spellsongs will be made Performer-only.

The Bad
    * On the whole, lower level songs will only provide an effect on the character performing them.
    * Luring will be notably more difficult.

The Ugly
    * At some undetermined point in the future, spellsongs will suffer a chance of failure dependent on skill; this chance is lower for Performers.
