I stopped playing once I started playing Haelrahv. But you really should just join a free server. Sure, it's illegal, but what the hey!

A google search for Ragarok and Private Server should give a nice list of sites.
You can also go here for a top 200 sites. Not sure how many work or don't, but whatever, heh.

The downside of the free servers is that you tend to get bored of the game quickly when the exp rates are x1000.
That's why I always came back to Haelrahv. Haelrahv is the win.
