We're pleased to announce that Haelrahv will be running on a brand new server very soon. The parts will be ordered Thursday, so as soon as we can get them, we'll be building it up and transferring everything to it.
For those interested, the specs:
P4 3.2GHz cpu (hyperthreaded) on a 800MHz FSB motherboard, 2GB PC3200 RAM (3-3-3 cas latency), 4 new drives in a RAID-5 configuration to protect our valuable data (for those unfamiliar with RAID-5, this means we can lose an entire drive at any time and suffer no data loss).
When everything is ready, I'll have to take down the game, site, etc for a few hours to get things in place and in order.
NOTE: If you have a haelrahv email address, you'll need to download your email prior to the server switchover. I will be rebuilding mailboxes so mail in the box prior to move will be lost. If you use webmail, forward copies of relevent items to another email address as your webmail mail will also be lost.

Update: It took three motherboards, but the third works like a charm. Actually, there was a feature I wasn't aware of that might have led me to think board #2 was defective, but I couldn't reach MSI tech support (hint, hint) to find out. So now we have a new Intel board which seems to be fine.
However, the RAID card doesn't seem to work now. So, a new RAID card will arrive Thursday and I will resume building up the new server then. At this point, most of the components have been used and are probably fine (cpu, RAM have not had extensive use -- I stopped during windows install due to the raid card problem). Hard drives have not been tested but are probably OK. So, if the RAID card I get Thurs. works fine, we should be up and running on the new box by that night.
