When I had 4 (6) in light armor, I couldn't make anything.
Now I have 6 in light armor, and I can now make gloves.
Should the bonus skill point stuff not count? |

Bonuses usually don't count towards things like that. For example, with unarmed, you don't get certain attacks until your un-bonused skill hits a certain level. If you have 3 (200) in unarmed, you can't use spearhand or roundhouse or pummel or anything like that.
So I'm guessing that it's the same with armor crafting. |

Correct. Minimum skill requirement is factored without any kind of bonuses. _________________ Mickey Brunner

Okay, wasn't sure about that.
Thanks! |

Yeah, but the thing about that is that tailoring (which I would guess is much more similar to Armor Crafting than Unarmed) does take into account skill bonus when figuring out what you can make. At least that's what Trevor said when it came out, I haven't checked it lately.
I'm curious if there are any guidelines with how this is determined or if it's just up to the whim of the GM who coded the system. _________________ ** The phrase "break a leg" just wasn't ambitious enough for Mellie Knight. [8:31 pm]

There are thirteen total pieces of light leather armor to be made, and the highest is still relatively low in requirement, by skill standards. As such, I took it upon myself to bypass the precedent tailoring set with skill bonuses (and, how many? 50-something I think?). Besides tailoring, I can't think of a single system with skill requirements that DOES use bonuses. Alchemy, spell research, and learning spellsongs doesn't.
Not to mention, I like seeing people have to spend skill points to do and be the best at things they want to do - which, when the rubber hits the road, can't be everything. _________________ Mickey Brunner

It does.

The general standard is to not include bonuses. To be quite honest, I don't recall why I included bonuses or if I did it by mistake and left it in. Either way, tailoring is an exception to the rule, for reasons I cannot explain. _________________ "Wise men talk because they have something to say; fools, because they have to say something." -- Plato

Where can one sell crafted armor and will it be worth more than the supplies and skins sold seperately? _________________ Lick or Be Licked |

This is how you explained it before.
HR-Trevor wrote: |
It is really supposed to include bonuses. Alchemy, among other things, generally provides more of a bonus or benefit than tailoring. You also don't train yourself on how to tailor things, unlike alchemy wherein you do. Think of the tailoring list as more of a list of what is reasonable for you to try to make than what you "know how to" make per se. I could have literally allowed you to try all items, but you'd fail many of them 100% |

Since it's made from pelts/hides, I'm guessing the place you train skinning.
I'd also expect the armor shop to accept them.
Just guesses, though.
From my own experiences crafting gloves though, so far, this seems more like a 'high level' crafting thing, though. Not like I'm against that, just that I might not want to really try this again until I got at least 100 crafting. |

Where you learn skinning, I couldn't sell my armor at.
And does making armor really take crafting? Or tailoring?
