I was looking at the Mercenary triple-trainable skill list and I was just curious as to how acrobatics, athletics, craftmanship, and handle animal benefit a Mercenary. Athletics and acrobatics I could see an rp reason but I don't see any visible benefits. Any help would be much appreciated.

Athletics has uses but not for combat. However uses were intended for combat at that time.

Acrobatics is the same, except that it does have one combat use -- to help you recover from knockdowns.

Craftsmanship is intended to be the skill for weapon repair /craft but that won't be in until live and will primarily be an Artisan thing but we at the time felt Mercs may benefit from making it a little easier for them to self-repair.

Handle Animal was added because it had been intended for Mercs to have attack dogs, which we'd still like to do at some point.

It's a movement skill like climbing and swimming. It's used when you have to jump a gap, swing on a rope, that sort of thing, I believe.

Athletics is also used for football.

I think it also helps with flips, cartwheels, somersaults, and handstands. I'm sure that acro and agil help, and I heard that athletics does. I also thing that it may help with LEAPing in combat (which will be very helpful later, with an engagement thingy... I can get to melee basically instantly, with no stamina loss).

I just remember hearing those things a while ago, but I could definitely be wrong.
