I had an idea for an ability, the ability for a trooper or a group/squad led by a trooper to guard an entrance to a room.

This would apply to directional entrances and "portals" (trails, paths, gates, etc).

The guard would auto-engage any hostile coming through that entrance with the trooper and/or the group (perhaps round-robin with the group <shrug>). Hostile would then need to disengage in order to go and attack, say, the group of mages 'n medics in the middle (MMM).

Obviously, this pre-supposes a full engagement system Wink

This would allow for better tactical control of an area in a major engagement than the :cough: insane mess that DR warfare is, for example.

would be nice to see troopers being able to quiet a crowd too without spelluse . say an abusive situation is occuring where a group of people are causing a publuc nuiscence would be neat to see a trooper call for calm and say everyone in the immediate area would become quiet for say 30rt .yeah i can see what your thinking is could this become an abuse by the trooper. if its just used to silence and not stop action i can see it becoming a useful tool in case of disputes and civilian riots

That's a good idea and it'd be totally doable.

Err....how exactly? Nothing really strikes me as being able to shut a room up without using magic or something....unless the trooper says, "I'm going to beat the crap out of whoever talks next.". Which would make any ability along those lines redundant....right?
