What kind of different ammo are we talking about? I don't really know what comes out of the end of my gun, so I can't think of any variations of pulse ammo.

I've always figured "pulse" ammo to be a type of generated-and-directed blast of electricity. Sort of like what the tesla troopers use in Red Alert (or were they introduced in the sequel? All the C&C games tend to bleed together for me), but not really.

The Trekkie photon torpedoes were actually solid objects with photonic warheads. Yeah.

I'll leave you all to hold the philosophical debates about what pulse shots are... but they do electrical damage.

Ok they do electrical damage.. .. ..but the mechanics involved in blocking a pulse shot differ greatly from blocking a mages lightning though they do the same kinda damage? Cause i can block a lightning from someone with 140 spell casting with a vyeftium/kashvana shield. . .with less than 100 in shield but using the shield against a pulse shot doesnt seem to help at all.

Well, lightning is drawn to the shield, but a pulse weapon is like, concentrated stuff, I thought. Maybe like that one weapon in Halo that shoots that blue crap... or green crap. Not the one that shoots lame purple spikes, but those are kinda pulse weaponish too. God, I hate that game.

Heh, anyway... I mean, just cuz it's electricity doesn't mean that a shield is going to help... a cattle prod would do electrical damage if you get hit in the face with it, regardless of whether or not you're carrying a shield.

I think it's fair to assume that pulse weapons release bursts of electricity (modified by their type of ammo pack), propelled by some other force that we'll neglect for now. If this is the case, then they would still be attracted to anything metallic, and moreso to vyeftium/whatever shields.

However, it's also fair to assume that the bursts are released at a high enough speed to negate the attraction to a degree.. at least long enough until it hits the intended target. Even if that were false, it's also fair to assume that the "Pulse Weapon" skill is intended to account for any sort of attraction and/or repulsion that might take place between firing -> hit, much like how snipers train to account for wind, distance, weight of their ammo, et al.

I've always imagined pulse weapons were like the shock rifle in Unreal Tournament/2003, but that's just me.

I imagined them like the rifle in "Demolition Man", especially with the whole recharging bit.
