SPELLSONGS UPDATE!
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Spellsongs are currently under scrutiny for revision, so expect possible
changes in the near future. The most recent update(s) are:

* Performer Effectiveness - True Performers will now perform spellsongs with
greater effectiveness than non-Performers. The principles are otherwise
unchanged, so non-Performers will not notice any difference.
* Tuning - You may TUNE an instrument to improve its effectiveness (or restore
it, if the tuning has degraded). This requires skill with the instrument being
tuned, and Coordination helps with the result.
Appraising an instrument, provided you have any capability with it, will give
you a general idea of how well it's currently tuned.
For the incapable tuner, an instrument specialist that frequents the Llanfair
theatre can tune your instrument, for a price, if you SHOW it to him.
* Faulty Wear-Off - Spellsong effects on people that leave a Performer's group
after performance will now wear off when they're supposed to.
* Drums of Fear - The Drums of Fear spellsong will affect critters.
* March of the Golden Tree Path - The minimum skill requirement for this song
has been lowered, to a limited degree; travel at this skill level will be for
the Performer only, while group travel will require the original skill level.
* Dance of Temptation - The Dance of Temptation, while still not powerful
enough to undercut Bureaucrats, will allow Performers to use their persuasion
to influence the price of sold items.

UPDATE 2/8

The Dance of Freedom spellsong is no longer disabled, and will work when
performed.

The Song of Silence will prevent Singing-type spellsongs from being performed,
and will also prevent preparation of magic spells.

Oops. Fixed the funny little bug that successfully tuned your instrument even if you failed.

Yeah, well, I also fixed the one that made the instrument more effective when it's out of tune while I was at it. Negative integers and I seem to be bitter enemies today when it comes to equations.

A minor non-newsworthy update: some of the spellsongs have been tooled with, to some effect (and that's not counting the overall effectiveness configured for Performers). I'll do a real update when they're all done, but wanted to keep you informed in the meantime.
