I said they hit me so the evasion rate feels too slow to me. I said they're not teaching marksmanship, AT ALL.
Seriously, do you just like talking? |

If you just stand there and don't kill them then you learn fine. Just go somewhere with aggro critters that can't hit you. |

lots of Aggro critters = The Fen.
Oddly enough...Fen creatures are: Eobais forager (lvl 5), Eobais worker (lvl 6), eobai hunter (lvl 8 ), mamujuk berserker (lvl 18 ), and borkin warrior (lvl 19)
All of them are WAY below my level and the eobais don't even give me experience for killing them anymore. Yet, I seemed to learn combat skills so much faster there than in the sunken ship hunting kamohakuns (lvls 19 and 22 creatures), that are STILL way below my level and can't hit me either, but I learned not a single 0.001% of a rank in shield there, and my armor and weapon crawled along as well. This makes me think that multiple opponents gives you a learning bonus to combat skills. A significant one, considering that the Fen creatures probably couldn't hit me if I was lying down. Where else can you go and regularly be able to have 4 or more creatures all trying in vain to attack you?
Speaking of, is there a reason that tactics NSKILLS wasn't released with the other combat ones? _________________ Help! Help! I'm being oppressed! |

Tactics will come in with the ES, both its use and training. Although, it has some use now, particularly in terms of landing crits. _________________ "Wise men talk because they have something to say; fools, because they have to say something." -- Plato

Code: |
[11.08.04] Attack and defense power calculations have been randomized considerably. These calculations still weigh well toward the combatant with the higher skill, however, it is now possible for low skill attackers to strike high skill defenders. It should no longer be considered safe to stand around idly in any combat area where you may be attacked. |
Does this mean that it will be possible to learn things a bit better as well in more places since we can get hit/miss more?
I like the change too...though I might be singing differently once I get a chance to go hunt again. I'm weighed down by too many alchemy things as it stands at the moment...heh, heh... _________________ Help! Help! I'm being oppressed! |

Yes, part of my motivation to make this change was so that we can improve learning rates. Also, I've been aware this change is necessary for several other reasons for a while.
Learning rates have not been adjusted yet, but will be in the near future. _________________ "Wise men talk because they have something to say; fools, because they have to say something." -- Plato

Kinda carried over from the other thread... but... as I was testing to see if I could get hit by asapis (no luck yet), I noticed that they WERE teaching me defenses. Is that okay, or buggy?
I mean, I'm not learning quickly or anything... maybe a few percent points every minute... well... maybe that is quickly. I dunno, I just thought I'd point it out. |

If they are actively able to hit you I'd say you're not learning very much about evasion. If you were actively able to evade their hits, then yes, you're learning well grasshopper.
Just because you can kill something doesn't mean you can evade it from smacking you around. |
