love the carving and detailing..and really enjoying using the items i make, but the mortars we carve are so small (they hold about a pound..where as others hold up to eight pounds)

Could we possibly carve larger mortars..pretty pretty please

I'll take a look at em. Though remember, the carved ones are made from a block of wood which is rather small to begin with.

Just curious which mortars hold 8lbs...the store bought, pottery ones or both?

I could see a block of wood being small if we used a stick or something to make them from, but we need a limb, and some limbs could be a very good size and make a large block.. Maybe let us carve a small block from stocks, and a large block from limbs, That could help to decide what we could carve from them.

I know the store bought ones hold 8 pounds worth, not sure about the pottery ones though

Clay mortars also hold 8 pounds.

Well I was going to take some pictures to illustrate my point, but at this rate, I'd never respond and I'm late enough as it is, so here goes....

First, I'd like to say I did up the amount that the crafted mortars can hold, though they are still only half as big as the clay ones. You'll have to remake one in order to take advantage of the new size.

Secondly, block size....

Sticks are approximately the size of an arrow shaft, which is really too small to make a block from. Carving takes a good amount of material, especially something that needs to be hollowed out like a mortar. Really the only thing that would be possible to make from a stick would be a ring and only if you had pretty dainty fingers Smile

Sorry I took so long on this.
