I am unable to retrieve items from the compartments if the case is inside another container. I can put stuff in, and look in the compartments, I just can't get it back out unless the case is out in the open.
I grabbed one to keep my stuff organized, but I really don't want to use up a back slot and it's a hassle pulling out the case every time I need to grab a new jar of dermagel (dang Guardian code ).

Yeah.. they had to do that because of all the lag. Something with the parsing system. See, the items are in compartments inside a container inside of another container.. which is two levels deep.. but you can only do one level deep (ie. items in compartments inside a container).
Does that.. make sense?

Yep, sure does. I'm used to DR parsing virtually unlimited layers, I just hadn't realized that getting stuff out was was limited to three layers here, since there was no problem putting it in.
Guess I'll just fall back to piling them in a pouch. Thanks for the tip.

It used to be unlimited, but it's supposedly helping the lag now. <shrug> Perhaps when the new engine is in place we'll go back to the days of old.

Actually, where was the case? If it were worn (mind you, I don't know if they can be worn) it should be fine. If not, you may have problems.
We actually have some new tools for lag detection and I'll play with the parsing engine to see if the increase is significant if we go an additional layer deep. _________________ "Wise men talk because they have something to say; fools, because they have to say something." -- Plato

In a hip-pouch, but I saw the same thing experimenting with items in all my other containers once William pointed out what the situation was. If I'm wearing or holding the case it's not a problem. They can be worn (on the back, which is why it's in a pouch.)
Again, it's just taking stuff out, not putting it away (which goes at least several layers deeper) so that threw me off and led me to think there was a problem. I've got years of DR habits to break, bear with me
Now, the fact that I can jam in a case full of stuff that wouldn't fit into the pouch if I tried to put them in there individually, is another story
Code: |
It looks like the hip-pouch will hold about 1 pound of weight.
The hip-pouch currently holds about 4 pounds of items. |

Yeah, I noticed this when I still had my 18 lb backpack. I would fill it up, but the satchel I put in it would continue to hold stuff up to its capacity.. which is when I would put another container in and repeat the whole process. But, now that I found my 75 lb backpack in a chith box, this is not much of a problem.

That case is actually worn on your back. It shouldn't appraise as a pouch.

It is back worn, the appraisal was of a 1 pound capacity pouch with the 4 pound case full of stuff in inside it . I keep it in there cause I don't want to give up a backpack

You shouldn't have to. Your back has two slots.

I'm wearing two backpacks ::tickles::
We Jaddan can lug around a lot, I need containers that big.

ROFL, I'm perfectly willing to make that sacrifice if I must, I only brought it up because it's a convenient place to store my supplies and I was surprised that I could put stuff IN, but not get it OUT

This may change in the full release. We've had to cut back on a few things to reduce lag.
