Not sure how many people out there actually are involved in jewelry crafting, but I've noticed a rather low pay-out for complete pieces. While I understand this is intended (it is a fairly easy, if a bit time consuming process), could we have the prices upped just a tad?

From what I've noticed just from today:

Settings cost 200 dollars and up. Plain cabochons, for me, sell for just about 250 with some variation with completed pieces selling for about a hundred more for a total between 300-400. So that means the setting value depreciated by ~$100 when combined with a gem.

Also, there is minimal difference between small to mid-sized and (assuming) large cabochons. I tested it with two beautiful emeralds earlier; small sold for 235 and mid-sized for 255. It gets worse, too. When comparing to other gems of a more common variety like turquoise and waeisho, I found they were within about ten dollars difference. I think an elaborate turquoise stone sold for 3 dollars more and a finely shaped waeisho stone was 12 dollars under.

I'm also unsure as to the qualities for cabochons, too, so the higher quality on the shoddier gems (if they are indeed higher) could be the cause for the similarity in prices.

Something that I would personally like to see is a more variety of colors on gems. I've found most have one or two different shades, but could we have a few more? And have the prices change according to color like IRL. Mebbe a more in-depth selection process? Instead of just using any gems, perhaps we could appraise them or something and get an idea of what color they are, or if there are any flaws?

I'd also like to see prices change according to size, too. Not a huge amount, but at least 50-100 dollars. Also have settings worth more in the long run when coupled with a gem in a complete piece.

And last, but not least, I'd like to see a few of the gems currently unavailable made available. Vexri stones, javpov stones and Nazjasi (sp?) among others I can't recall off the top of my head. Also more colors in stones (like purple stones!). I think we have a wide variety of stones that can be blue from diamonds to kuzta crystals, a few that can be yellow/green, some that are yellow, few that are red, but that's pretty much it. Some black/silver, black, etc, but not a huge amount there, either. I'm not entirely certain if there are any greyish silver or white stones, either, but I'm sure some could be introduced?

Actually, I think Rkol gems can be silvery in color. But still. The above still applies.

EDIT::: We should be able to make jewelry settings from nuggets/ingots. Melt it in a crucible, pour in a mold (hand-made perhaps?) and wait to cool before breaking open the mold. Also, and I'm sure this is harder, make boxes able to be meltable? I don't think you can find native metals any other way, can you? (Obviously I haven't gone looking around to see if you can or can't.)

i think diamonds sell the best, but i didn't craft a gem for well over a year. i remember wishing the sizes cut mattered more, though.

IIRC, faceting was supposed to be the major money maker in jewelcrafting, too, but it's gone somewhere. To compare it to other systems, what we can do now is more like fabric weaving and block carving than tailoring and whittling (with the only difference being that we can set things even though we're not "done" making all we can out of the gem at that point).

I love the idea of us molding our own settings, though.

All right. 332 for small beautiful blue diamonds, 371 for mid-sized elaborate blue diamonds.

So a little better, yeah, but still only 50 difference between sizes. It just seems rather odd when IRL a few karats makes the difference between a 1500 dollar engagement ring and a 15000 dollar one.

Though now I've suddenly got the urge to watch Titanic. Blue Heart of the Ocean diamond anyone?

I'm just gonna use this as my wishlist thread for jewelry crafting, too.

Can we get pearls added to the system, even if they are just buffable like ambers?

Do you mean the treasure boxes? That would be kinda kewl to be able to salvage them for the metals to be smelted and the disarmed traps for later use for techs to make something out of it and even give the unused poisons to agents to mess with. Maybe even have some semi-rare boxes that are encrusted with gems. <drools>

Traps wouldn't just go to Techs, IMO. Agents are masters of security and traps as well.
