1) i can hide at melee and sneak north to avoid having to retreat to pilum first.
2) critters walk off if you're in combat with them and hiding _________________ A bright-eyed Thekko Ku Kalla dressed in a dapper sailor suit takes to flight and careers through the air toward the Modan Kucho and slams into him!

[11.10.06]
- NPC's will no longer wander away from a room when they have hidden engagers.
- Hiding is no longer possible at melee or pole range. You'll need to back out
to pilum of further to hide. _________________ "Wise men talk because they have something to say; fools, because they have to say something." -- Plato

can agents and trackers still be allowed to hide melee? i know my agent was going to be a major stealth build and having to retreat advance ambush retreat advance ambush sounds like it will get frustrating, especially once i hit really fast things like kucho. _________________ A bright-eyed Thekko Ku Kalla dressed in a dapper sailor suit takes to flight and careers through the air toward the Modan Kucho and slams into him!

Generally speaking, being able to disappear right before something's eyes doesn't make a whole lot of sense, does it? _________________ "Wise men talk because they have something to say; fools, because they have to say something." -- Plato

realistically? no.
fictionally? agents and trackers are masters of stealth. i consider that as realistic as being able to use magic to turn invisible, or being able to ressurect the dead to do your bidding. i don't think yaru, artisan kid A number 1, should be able to ever do something like hide at melee, but a stealthy assassin should just have expected "ways" to be able to do so. _________________ A bright-eyed Thekko Ku Kalla dressed in a dapper sailor suit takes to flight and careers through the air toward the Modan Kucho and slams into him!

Plus, you could be at melee behind the opponent. But I don't know if our current engagement system differentiates things like that.

I'll ponder it. The biggest issue is actually technical. The engagement system is pretty convoluted, and getting it to block you moving to another room while hidden if engaged, while keeping engagement working as you'd expect when hidden could be pretty tricky. _________________ "Wise men talk because they have something to say; fools, because they have to say something." -- Plato

I noticed that I can still hide at melee. Am I to assume you were able to make it work out, or is it not working right? _________________ >ask librarian about books

Nope, means something is bugged out. I'll check it all out in more detail later. _________________ "Wise men talk because they have something to say; fools, because they have to say something." -- Plato

- It is no longer possible to sneak from one room to another while in close-range combat.
- Hiding in melee/pole is now possible again, but has a failure rate at combat ranges this close. For Agents or Trackers in a rural or low-urban setting it's a low rate of failure. For Trackers in an urban setting it's a moderate rate of failure, and for everyone else it's a fairly high chance to fail to hide. _________________ "Wise men talk because they have something to say; fools, because they have to say something." -- Plato
