Trackers:
Quick update - I still have the terrain affinity project slated for you, and will be working on this project when possible. This ability will enhance your combat ability in non-urban terrains you hunt in most. _________________ "Wise men talk because they have something to say; fools, because they have to say something." -- Plato

The terrain affinity system for Trackers is now live!
Trackers of level 22 or higher may speak with their professional trainer about abilities to learn about affinity. Once this is done, the new TERRAIN command is unlocked for that character.
Terrain affinity allows Trackers to hone their skills in specific terrains to gain increased combat proficiency in those areas. For instance, hunting often in jungle areas will allow the Tracker to fight better in areas with high or primary jungle terrain.
There is a limitation on mastery however, and at some point all Trackers will meet this limit of proficiency. The limit is based in part on the Tracker's level, but no Tracker may fully master all terrains at once. Once a Tracker has reached his or her maximum capability, increasing affinities in one terrain will lower affinity in a different terrain.
Trackers can control this effect some by minding the areas they hunt in as the density of the terrain types in question does affect which affinities are raised and lowered. _________________ "Wise men talk because they have something to say; fools, because they have to say something." -- Plato

The bonuses gained for terrain types are as follows, and are modified by the Tracker's affinity to the listed terrains:
Coniferous Forest, Rock: Critical hit rate.
Deciduous Forest, Salt Water: Defensive skills.
Dirt, Grass: Offensive skills, knockdown chance.
Fresh Water, Marsh: Chance to reduce melee, thrown roundtimes.
Ice, Sand: Maximum balance.
Jungle, Volcanic: Increased damage capability. _________________ "Wise men talk because they have something to say; fools, because they have to say something." -- Plato

Alrighty I guess I'm kinda confused about this terrain thing...
First I've been hunting my butt off lately and my terrain affinity statistics are all still unremarkable. How long does it take for one of the terrains to actually start to have an affinity to it? (I've mostly been in lurkers and kuchos)
Also these bonuses, they only happen when you're affinity to the terrain is not unremarkable anymore correct?
Also, anytime that I try hunting in an urban area for example CC or the temple in Jareya I got errorrs both times because urban/man-made isnt a terrain or something so now I can't even hunt the ruga or sshliss or civilians if i wanted. I haven't tried any other area. _________________ Neifl Cacambo - "Anyone have change for a tampon?"

I've noticed a bit of a difference since I got familiar with salt water terrain. I'm getting hit a lot more than I was before I was familiar with it. I've tested it a few days in a row, day and nighttime and the scourges are hitting me quite often and with harder shots than previously. Just wondering if it was supposed to be that way. _________________ All explorers are seeking something they have lost. I'll double check things when I can, but if anything, the opposite should be occurring. In reality, these things should be so subtle that you notice little to no change for the one factor. Most likely is that some other factors are causing the disparity, such as different levels of encumbrance, night/dark penalties, the rolls you received, etc. _________________ "Wise men talk because they have something to say; fools, because they have to say something." -- Plato
