Are there any plans on having any kind of pulse cores that can cause nerve damage? Pulse being 'electrical' and all. . . _________________ It is better to be pissed off than pissed on. |

I agree it would make sense for it to _________________ Mellie Amresh says, "Send someone with a bigger dick."

It's possible but I don't think the amount would be significant. Obviously nerve damage is a very powerful thing to deal, and additionally you're talking about a weapon that attacks a specific, vital body location. I'm not shooting down the idea, I'm just saying don't look for it to be an easy way to incapacitate mages and psionics in PvP if it comes in. _________________ "Wise men talk because they have something to say; fools, because they have to say something." -- Plato

maybe pulse can be capable of giving someone a twitch or something, so they get thrown out of hiding/lose spells/aiming/etc randomly. being hit a lot might just cause stun or shock or pass out compeltely.
that way, pulse still does 'a big cool thing' but it isn't as fatal as nerve damage tends to be. _________________ A bright-eyed Thekko Ku Kalla dressed in a dapper sailor suit takes to flight and careers through the air toward the Modan Kucho and slams into him!

I was thinking about the normal cores causing the most nerve damage type since it has the drawback of being resisted the most via electrical resistance from armor/shields/spells etc. _________________ It is better to be pissed off than pissed on. |

the problem is that nerve damage is (arguably?) the most fatal area to be wounded.
there's also no way to 'miss' hitting nerves. so if pulse damage causes nerve damage all the time, then pulse weapon users might have things too easy in the sense that they don't even have to try to really do more than hit 'somewhere' to kill the target, while everyone else still needs to eventually go for a vital area. _________________ A bright-eyed Thekko Ku Kalla dressed in a dapper sailor suit takes to flight and careers through the air toward the Modan Kucho and slams into him!

Depends on your way of looking at it.
Raw numbers wise, nerves have 100 points before they are completely shot and the person dies, while other locations have 76 (as Trevor pointed out in another thread).
However....
Nerves start to incur additional damage per pulse after 60 points of damage, when you start receiving the following message: "Spasming painfully, your <bodypart> twitches uncontrollably for a moment." _________________ Counselor Faith Tempest

Multiphase weapons do less raw damage before reduction via resist than pure pulse. Ionic do less damage than multiphase and have no resist redux. So it (mostly) balances out, but there may be some cases where one is better than the other because the raw power on X MP or ionic is high enough to be really effective. _________________ "Wise men talk because they have something to say; fools, because they have to say something." -- Plato
