I was going to just throw this into the Interesting Sites thread, but I didn't feel like interrupting the mini-discussion on pirate mariachi. Besides, I figured this kind of deserved its own glory thread.
http://onefed.com/media/NintendoON.wmv
Might take a minute or two to download for some people. Also, the first half the whole thing is kind of just.. boring.. but it's a decent intro for the main part of the video.
I think that's pretty badass. Effing a, man. I doubt it's going to really be what Nintendo plans to unveil for the Nintendo Revolution, but it's a cool concept nonetheless.

Haha, after the first three and a half minutes, just when the music gets pornographic, the vid actually gets interesting to watch. Reminded me of a sexy car commercial....for yanno...what the sims have always had to keep them the most entertained. Soon we'll all be playing .hack//sign and "Killobyte." I just can't imagine standing around in my room running and jumping...falling over my bed...breaking my ankle...yanno. Ick. _________________ "I reject your reality and substitute my own!" -- Adam Savage

Well, I just skimmed over IGN, and they claim it's fake. But even if it is, it's interesting to think that something like is probably where the industry wants to end up in the future. The only difficult thing about it would be getting the hardware advanced enough that it would be marketable (re: cheap) enough for the average consumer.

PS: Nintendo has proclaimed that the real Nintendo Revolution will be about as thick as three DVD cases and slightly longer. And that it will be backwards compatible with Gamecube games. Hoorah, hoorah. _________________

Although, I was still giddy with glee and tittering with titilation when I went to http://cube.ign.com/articles/522/522559p1.html and read about it. They got a year wrong.. the NES was released in the US in 1985, while the Famicom was out in Japan in 1983. There's a reasonable difference there.
I'll be getting the Revolution due to backwards compatibility as well. |

Why would you want it to be backward compatible to Gamecube games? It has to be about the worst feature I've ever heard.
Play all those games that weren't worth buying in the first place! Hooray Hoorah! _________________ HR-Marduk

The obvious answer being: To play the Gamecube games I happen to enjoy? Worth (or worthlessness) is subjective personal opinion. _________________ Mickey Brunner

All these new fangled machines bore me. If I wanted something lifelike, I'd go outside. But I don't. That's why I'm playin my NES. Go Dragon Warrior! Go Contra! Go Conflict! Go Punch Out! Go Gauntlet! Go Rad Racer! _________________ >ask librarian about books

i'm a big fan of the new games (while i do love the old ones) because they give me the storyline, sound, etc of a movie with enough interactivity to keep my attention. _________________ A bright-eyed Thekko Ku Kalla dressed in a dapper sailor suit takes to flight and careers through the air toward the Modan Kucho and slams into him!

My biggest peeve with newer (newer being anything post-SNES for sake of discussion) games is the control/camera issue. 2D games are predictable and plainly laid out, but 3D games can be a real pain in the ass trying to move around, navigate etc. Less of the game involves skill and more involves fighting the camera mechanics. _________________ "Wise men talk because they have something to say; fools, because they have to say something." -- Plato

The only game systems I own are 2 NES, a SNES, a GBA SP, and a Playstation. All the games I play on my GBA are original GB games. Like Tetris and Millipede. Those are two of my favorite games. _________________ >ask librarian about books
