Change in Medic Core and Profession Skills everyone!
Poisons is no longer a Medic core skill, and Research will be taking it's place.
The newly updated list is as follows:
Core: First Aid, Medicine, Research, and Surgery
Triples: Alchemy, Aviation, Climbing, Driving, Ecology, Electronics, First Aid, Light Armor, Medicine, Poisons, Research, Skinning, Surgery, and Swimming _________________ "I'm not quiet...I'm plotting" |

Jocelyn are you saying that we can triple our core skills after leveling? Or was that a mistake?
For example: I auto train the core skills three times upon leveling right? Then I have the opportunity of triple training them again using my training points?

As far as I understand it (Trevor feel free to tell me i'm wrong ) is that Core skills are automatically trained up one rank upon leveling and triple skills are skills you can train three times after each leveling (and I believe its only three times including the automatic level) _________________ "I'm not quiet...I'm plotting" |

Yeah.. say you're a Medic, and you level up. First Aid, Medicine, Research and Surgery are raised one rank each, at no cost to you. However, you can only raise those skills manually by two more points that level (at normal skill training costs, 1 skill point.)
Core skills are just ones that you get 1 free point in each level without spending a training point. _________________ "Wise men talk because they have something to say; fools, because they have to say something." -- Plato

Hmm, I was under the impression before that after the auto rank for that level, you would be able to manually train that skill up 3 more points. But I spose that is not the case, good to know. _________________ Dragoonseal |

Okay, colour me dumb, I still don't get how the skill training works (as in the distribution of points)
Any chance in having shown in figures?? Makes it easier (for me anyway) to understand. _________________ ~My Reality Check Bounced~

Okay. Let me try to explain this in detail a bit.
Let's say you roll up a new Medic. He gets 1 point in his four core skills (first aid, medicine, research, surgery) immediately. He then gets 34 skill points to spend.
Each skill you raise requires 1 skill training point to raise the skill by one point. You can toss 2 more points in each of those cores if you want, and then spend the rest on double and triple trainable skills.
You can put anywhere from 2 to 3 pts max in any skill you want, depending. Of course you can also just single train or not train specific skills, too.
So, you spend all your points, and you start playing. As you gain experience, you periodically get a new skill training point. You can choose to use it immediately, or use it later on. When you reach level 2, you'll also get a bunch of skill points to spend in a lump sum.
You can always choose to save points for training. If you never train a skill, you can later train it to max if you have enough training points to do so. If you've played GS3, it's not like there were you have to spend your points immediately or lose out.
The actual process of training is to go to a skill training area... they're usually pretty obvious and located almost always in buildings in major cities... and RAISE <skill name>, similar to raising stats in DR.
Does that help? _________________ "Wise men talk because they have something to say; fools, because they have to say something." -- Plato

Does this mean that skills will have a cap? _________________ ~My Reality Check Bounced~

I assume you're asking skill cap overall? No skill can be trained above 200 skill pts, until you max your character out at level 100. Then you can train skills above 200 and stats above your racial max. _________________ "Wise men talk because they have something to say; fools, because they have to say something." -- Plato

This sounds more like the old MO training system. Where we went to our profession area and raise <skillname> by <X points>, except you don't need to use by <X points>?

Thirty-four points? Holy crap, I've been working out a general training routine with only thirty-two.
My world is now asunder.
