After reading the LA Times article and then finding the actual lawsuit and website held by the members, not only do I think the lawsuit was a bit farfetched at being filed in the first place, and then awarded, I also highly doubt Bush himself had any idea about this (even the members of the lawsuit don't hold him responsible) until and if it has been brought to his attention after recieving publicity in the papers.
There is always more than one side to a story and you shouldn't believe everything you read, especially from the so-called news reporters.

There's absolutely no justification for an individual to receive $1B in judgment unless an excessive infringement that caused loss of income on par with that figure can be demonstrated. I think pain, suffering and trauma deserve an award, as do negligence and so on, however, taking the nominal monetary value of a person (in a court people have monetary worths, like it or not) and exponentially blowing that into an unreal figure because you want to make a point,you want to bankrupt a system, etc is not right.
