Aren't gem cutting/grinding/buffing tools, mini power tools? Those are quite fun as it is but I'm looking forward to checking out the bigger models used for gadgets. |
Yes, but they're just the gridy type. Not the cutty, sodery type. AH! WELDING!
Hey Drake, will we be able to weld together cool artwork with a sculpting skill? Some of the best welders are also the most interesting metalworking artists. It'd be cool if techs could get an in on metalworking. _________________ "I reject your reality and substitute my own!" -- Adam Savage

Yeah, they're bigger than the gem tools, and they're stationary, so you won't be able to move 'em around. There'll be wrenches, screwdrivers and portable drills too, though. _________________ Something wicked this way comes... |

Is there a new time frame on when we might expect the first simple gadgets? _________________ "I reject your reality and substitute my own!" -- Adam Savage

Quite possibly, but not in the near future. Best bet would probably be in Live.

Yeah, in a few days I hope. Depends on how much time I'm able to put in every night. _________________ Something wicked this way comes... |

^.^ I'm more interested in the gadgeting (I like making up words) we'll be able to do. It'll be in that gray building right? And soon? :: bats eyelashes :: _________________ "I reject your reality and substitute my own!" -- Adam Savage

I've added the gadget components to the treasure system. This is by no means every gadget component there will ever be, just the ones I've made so far. You guys'll have to collect them to see what's out there, I don't think I'll post a list.
Edit:
I guess I can let ya know how many there are. There are 9 types of components of varying description and quality. Around 70-ish components total I believe. You can't actually DO anything with them yet, but you can keep 'em until you can, of course. _________________ Something wicked this way comes... |

Drake, finding components is...really high. The market is going to get flooded with parts...which means there's no reason to buy them off of people. I'm not sure where I'm going. I'd LOVE to be able to sell mass produced gadgets to an NPC. Well, you did say the first gadgets are fluff gadgets so I suppose that the more difficult set will have components that are harder to find.
^.^; I have a ton of components...now I just need to be able to put em together!! _________________ "I reject your reality and substitute my own!" -- Adam Savage

Actually, the gem cutting tools are big table sized things, which is why I made the workshops. There might be handheld rotary tools though down the line. _________________ God has no place within these walls, just as facts have no place within organized religion.

What are gadget components considered in the treasure system? I.e. junk? cash?
Also, are some components more rare\useful than others and can only be found in 'harder' boxes? That would be cool. _________________ It is better to be pissed off than pissed on. |

At this time I think Drake only added them as junk which means they are equally difficult to obtain. _________________ "Wise men talk because they have something to say; fools, because they have to say something." -- Plato

He told us this morning that all the current components were in the junk hopper. I tried to tell Tshar that as IC as possible. _________________ "I reject your reality and substitute my own!" -- Adam Savage
