it seems that once you start wanting to hunt things that are over 40, you become severely limited. either the creatures require climbing to reach, or they come in a gang that features a wide range of levels.
Code: |
Mountain Gragrok (40): gotta climb to reach
Skittering Tseritze (40): gotta climb to reach
Spined Rovogo (40): this is the only thing i can hunt without harming my alignment.
Sshliss 45: gotta climb to reach
Nowbi Archer 50: come with higher nowbi
Royal Guard 50: they're good
The Ruga' Sshliss 50: climbing. and that whole once 30 day thing.
::insert giant level gap::
Nowbi Fighter 60: actually, i like these guys. but they come with higher level things, too. and i can't hunt these yet, since, you know, i'm non combat and mid 50s.
Stalking Kashaga 60: climbing...
Nowbi Priestess/Shaman 65: by the point i can hunt these, nowbi are viable to hunt
Getok Hound 70: well, they're forever away for me.
Vacori 70: as are these.
Modan Kucho 75: and these
Yes Hulking Risheso 80: well, invasion only.
::another giant level gap::
Thekko Ku Kalla 100: give it a month. i'll get him then! |
as it is, there's a huge lack of critters that can't be reached without climbing in the 40-59 level range. the only downside to nowbi that i face is that there's no ammo place out on echak. but i don't think i should attempt to go there until i'm at least 60, and that's a month or two away. i'd prefer to not have to stay in beetles unless i train climbing. i know everything shouldn't be located a quick journey script from llanfair, but i think that there should be more hunting areas accessable without climbing. _________________ A bright-eyed Thekko Ku Kalla dressed in a dapper sailor suit takes to flight and careers through the air toward the Modan Kucho and slams into him!

I think we can all agree that more hunting area to choose from would be a benefit, but I also don't see any reason to exclude climbing or swimming from areas intentionally. These are intended to be necessary adventuring skills. _________________ "Wise men talk because they have something to say; fools, because they have to say something." -- Plato

i'm not saying having areas that require climbing and swimming are bad or anything, but making it a requirement to access 4 out of 5 non good critters in a 20 level range is slightly unfair (in my eyes). it's like saying that in order to hunt the only three level 90 critters, people would need, like, drawing. _________________ A bright-eyed Thekko Ku Kalla dressed in a dapper sailor suit takes to flight and careers through the air toward the Modan Kucho and slams into him!

Climbing is much more applicable to journeying through remote areas than drawing. _________________ "Wise men talk because they have something to say; fools, because they have to say something." -- Plato

i know. it's more that i needed to pick an arbitrary skill that is very limited in scope. i can see some areas needing a set traveling type skill to enter, but making it required for all areas in a set level range feels unfair to me (and pretty much obligates all hunters to train that one skill, which feels too cookie cutter to me).
regardless of the temple area (which i'm not against needing climbing to get in, honest!), there are no critters between 51 and 59. the only two level 50 non-boss critters are royal guards and nowbi archers, which are both 50. but, the royal guards are good alignment and the nowbi archers also come with critters that go up to 65 in the village area.
it just seems that the gaps for critters are pretty huge and the critter choices pretty limited once you start going after the critters past 40. granted, this makes sense because previously most players were in the low to mid level range, but i'd like to not be stuck hunting only one critter per 10 or so levels.
i understand this isn't a huge priority because the number of players in the 50+ level range isn't that big, but i'd like to look forward to hunting more than nowbi from level 60 to level 100+ (not like i hate nowbi, but it would get a bit old to hunt them for like half a year+), as well as look forward to hunting more than beetles from now til 60. _________________ A bright-eyed Thekko Ku Kalla dressed in a dapper sailor suit takes to flight and careers through the air toward the Modan Kucho and slams into him!

You don't really need climbing, I don't think. If I remember correctly, you can make it up there with 0 climbing and there's no threat of falling or anything. Granted, it's a pain because it takes lots of failed attempts, and it's on Jareya, but it's better than nothing. |

Sooo true. Also the fact that you can easily find yourself a tracker friend and when they pray you to Jareya using the stones the stones are right outside the entrance to the temple. No climbing required.
Give us time. Evening out the critters (for everyone) is a goal among many of us just little things constantly cropping up. _________________ You turn to Trevor Rage and ask, "What the fuck were you thinking?" |

oh, i don't think that there was no intention for you GMs to make more critters, i'm just saying i'd really like for it to happen. i figure (at least to some point), that you GMs choose what to develop based on what the players would like to have come up next.
and i didn't know anyone could climb up jareya, even with no skill. didn't realize it was like swimming to the ghost ship. _________________ A bright-eyed Thekko Ku Kalla dressed in a dapper sailor suit takes to flight and careers through the air toward the Modan Kucho and slams into him!

If you can find someone to give you a tree talisman, that'll teleport you past the cliff, too. |

I personally dont mind the hunting areas with req's to get to, theres plenty of things that I could hunt without going up the mountain but I enjoy going up there.
Although I agree we do need more good aligned higher level things to kill. _________________ Mellie Amresh says, "Send someone with a bigger dick."

In terms of hunting area building, homes for higher level good-aligned creatures is our priority. _________________ "Wise men talk because they have something to say; fools, because they have to say something." -- Plato
