okay, so i had performers (well, i think just zamde) who were graciously willing to teach me mender's verse. since then, a few people have noticed me using it and was asking if i could scribe it for them.
since this isn't a normally available spellsong, i've normally tried directing them to find a performer willing to teach.
what is the stance you performers have on the 'special' spellsongs? i haven't been scribing them because i figure they're your guild 'secrets' (sorta), and it wouldn't be fair for an artisan to make them overly public. _________________ A bright-eyed Thekko Ku Kalla dressed in a dapper sailor suit takes to flight and careers through the air toward the Modan Kucho and slams into him!

Ironically, I never intentionally released the racial spellsongs at the Twilight Festival with any modicum of intent to make them exclusive. I was planning on trying to open the performer's academy around the same time, and since the academy totally missed that schedule (by what... like a year? Har!), I forgot all about making them publicly accessible; so when the acquisition and dissemination of those spellsongs became a who-knows-who circumstance, I figured it was pretty cool and never bothered takingsteps to change it.
At any rate, I'll go with whatever the general Performer consensus is. If they really don't care, I'll make them available at the academy or something. _________________ Mickey Brunner

Concidering it currently takes 74 in both singing and in spell research to learn mender's verse, it's not for the faint of heart to just undertake. I've had to cut back on several other things for Kit to learn it. Zambe also scribed me my spellsong quite awhile ago for when I finally can learn it. I wouldn't have problems for it to be performer-only to notate music. That makes sense afterall. _________________ "I reject your reality and substitute my own!" -- Adam Savage

I'm cool with it either way. My feelings aren't hurt if I'm one of an exclusive few that has the wherewithal to determine who can learn a hard-to-find spellsong. But by that same token, I more or less assumed that the people I notated for would (sooner or later) hand the songs down to other people... I just took the liberty of picking and choosing the recipients I notated for because I respected [what I judge to be their] perceptive qualities and/or reasonably good taste in discerning other people for qualification. _________________ An eye for an eye; but my eye's worth more.

And I thank you for getting me a copy of Chant of the Great Mother, even if I can't learn it yet. _________________ Help! Help! I'm being oppressed! |

I second what Zamde said, minus the whole notating spellsongs for other people. I don't think anyone has asked me to do so. I guess I'm just not cool enough to be asked to do that sort of thing. _________________ >l in corset

Although if there were some famtastoc secret/quest spellsongs in the future whose dispersal comes solely at the whim of Performers, that would be cool too. _________________ An eye for an eye; but my eye's worth more.

There really SHOULD be more spellsongs.
There are a HUGE amount of spells and psionic abilities afterall.
It there were more spellsongs for instruments, then a performer could specialize in a few instruments and have others only secondary, like people in the real world that specialize in one instrument or one group of instruments but can still play all of the other groups as well.
Spellsongs should fill the niches that spells and abilities leave out. And there should be more spellsong alternatives to other magic. _________________ "I reject your reality and substitute my own!" -- Adam Savage

I've got a lot of planned spellsongs waiting offline, but I haven't been totally comfortable releasing several to the point that they outnumber the publicly available Mage or Psionic spells/powers. Once Trevor starts getting those into the player fold, I'll probably do the same with mine. _________________ Mickey Brunner

That would be sweet! With the what...? 70 or so mage spells and psionic abilities, more spellsongs would be awesome. Then I could do other stuff with my 74 levels in singing! _________________ "I reject your reality and substitute my own!" -- Adam Savage

on the whole spellsong thing, i guess tis good no one has asked me fer any besides da few i notated fer other performers. i would probably have refused ta do any of the fest ones fer non-performers, well maybe fer the right price. guess im in the minority here, but i like hordin knowledge *cackles*

PS: Mickey, make sure the majority of spellsongs end up on Strings.
