Should we learn skills by doing faster and get rid of the skill trainers, a la Modus Operandi/DragonRealms? |
Yes; I liked Modus Operandi's and Dragonrealms' skill systems and want to see something very similar in Haelrahv. |

No; Just because Trevor was from Simu doesn't mean his games have to be like theirs and/or I like what Trevor has planned. |

Heh drain rates in DR got insanely slow at higher levels. I had a pretty high circle war mage there about a year ago before I sold my account and it would take a good two days or more of dedicated draining to gain a rank. |
You must have had some awful stats. With 600+ MD, I get a pulse size of .28 which is a little under 20 hours for a rank on a wall. It's not that bad considering that means a postwall rank takes under 5 hours.
It's just a shame you can't drain exp there as long as you can here.

Yea, I was into combat big time. My intell and wisdom weren't all that. Had alot of agility, strength, and reflex. MD was my lowest magic skill as well. TM being my highest, PM and harness right below TM. I had more multi opponent than PM. Weapons and armor were on par with my magic skills as well. I hadn't turned my WM into MD scripted trash. . yet. I'm sure I would have eventually, considering it was the easiest magic skill to work. But I hunted almost constantly and the only MD training I got was using cam to cast defensives spells in combat. I should went barb heh. _________________ It is better to be pissed off than pissed on. |

Yaru = Pureblade theory |
Heh...if that's true, I think I might have removed some of your posts at one point. ^_^;
DR skills...well I never had any really uber high skills except for maybe magic, but the highest I ever got was 46th with my Moon Mage, before I got upset with just "dealing" with my character choice because I hadn't intended to play for more than a month. I had started training up an awesome Tog Moonie...but then combat got fux0r3d, Magic got fux0r3d (on my birthday no less), I didn't get to play for a week because I was constantly monitoring the Magic boards, prices went up, Trevor got fired (I didn't know him then), I got told I couldn't voice my opinion over Trevor's termination and the price hike because I "worked" for the company...so I said, "Fuck it" and left. Dante is sort of my continuation of the Tog moonie idea now. I think he's far superior.
.....wow that was a large tangent. _________________ Help! Help! I'm being oppressed! |

Wasn't that a Board Moderator initiation right?
And yes, I played Pureblade. Comments like "that explains so much" means I did a great job doing so, to me, because now any minor annoying act I do while playing Yaru (who is a kid, and thus annoying) can bring up memories of a character I haven't actively played for over a year.
But we can also remotely explain any character's actions off of silly comments. For example...
Pureblade is based off the fact that I am batshit insane, cynical, and quite annoying.
Kit is based off of Kit's player being a yaoi-loving lesbian.
Aesal is based off Aesal's player being Republican.
We can base character analysis off silly things anytime.
ps: and yes, we can also state that I'm being mean and biting because I played Pureblade, too. _________________ A bright-eyed Thekko Ku Kalla dressed in a dapper sailor suit takes to flight and careers through the air toward the Modan Kucho and slams into him!

Nah, you were just one of the people tagged with the "watch this one's posts" lectures along with Cookie Monster and a few others. I thing a Board Monitor's initiation right was your first caution/TAC Warning. For what it's worth, I didn't mind you posting all the time then. And it wasn't because you never posted in my folders either. Heh, heh. _________________ Help! Help! I'm being oppressed! |

Yay for yaoi. Not shota though. That's super wrong. My second character in DR was very chummy with Pureblade.
Then of course, another joined the BFA. I just remember him being a GM suckup...but I was too, only not on the good side. I always enjoyed evil RP so much better then good and pure stuff. |

Honesty's posts got annoying after awhile. Too much cynicism and childishness.

That always baffled me, how Pureblade/I was a GM suckup.
In all honesty, during the times where I was very active in the game, I was reported for breaking rules more often than not, and was always causing some GM or another stress. I think the fact that I can talk a good argument to justify my character's actions and [quite often] caught the GMs giving a completely moronic and off-key response let me get away with a lot of shit. So I never did get how I was a GM suckup.
Some fun things I heard from GMs, which I'm trying to remember as close to the original:
1) Paladins can't just go around stopping graverobbers, that's not a Paladin thing to do.
2) It's against policy to accuse people who refuse to pay you a bribe to not accuse them- that's blackmail and against policy.
3) Paladins can't be friends with Theives, you're not allowed to help a Thief do anything.
I do admit that some GMs did get what I was doing with my character and gladly helped play along. Heck, one time I had Pureblade standing outside the bank, telling people not to steal, and those who kept doing it JUST to spite me started getting auto-arrested. I was later attacked by a random player who said that me arresting people was OOC and against policy, so he had the right to PvP me.
Fun times.
So, who did everyone here play as in DR? _________________ A bright-eyed Thekko Ku Kalla dressed in a dapper sailor suit takes to flight and careers through the air toward the Modan Kucho and slams into him!

How about a new topic to discuss that? Because, you know, only so much topic-derailing can be allowed within a month. Sort of like bandwith, you know.

It wasn't a bash, I flocked to GMNPCs too. Especially the Velmix storyline and the new King of Shard. I got so many cool things from him and Yhamen. Some of the best roleplays EVER came from Vaschon. |
