Relevant(?) info:

Level 45 Psionic. Attune Eyesight running for all attempts. Balance running for some. Even had my Spirit Guide make an appearance for a few of them, later on.

Stats:

Charisma : 50 (7Cool
Intellect : 50 (8Cool
Mentality : 50 (7Cool

These stats are with Spirit Guide, Attune Eyesight and Balance going.

Skills:
Psionic Ability : 135 (168)
Occult Lore : 135 (162)

I'm not certain what boxes I should be able to open with relative ease. I am certain royal guard boxes are well outside my range, now. Razz

This is chiefly for other Psionics thinking of getting Unlock. It seems adequate for some boxes. I'd still recommend going with training Security, though.

[Western Dirt Road, Crossroads]
Cobblestones pave the road here for a short distance as it splits into three trails. Two of the paths divert around a large body of water while the third road leads westwards in a straight line towards a city on a hill. Off to one side of the crossroads is a two story building with a number of windows in the face and a chimney at one end from which a pale streamer of smoke trails off into the sky. A wooden sign hangs above the door to the building, naming the place as well as giving directions.

You also see a wooden sign, a penguin box, a green tray with some soylent green on it, a well-crafted jalumin casket and a poorly-made vyeftium case.
You notice exits leading northeast, southeast, and west.

It should be noted that I Unlocked a single darga vei box in one try.

They seem to tear me apart, though, unlike the guards. Razz

Are Dargas above or below your level?

I seem to not have any trouble with Unlocking boxes (other than the magic resistant ones) with what I hunt anymore. But then, I underhunt...so there you go.

Was the darga vei box made from ocia? Ocia amplifies magical energy so unlocking power would actually be easier on that then any other material.

Just Unlocked an ocia guard box on the second attempt.

I had to retreat for healing(Thanks, Dixie!) before I could find any other boxes.

I was doing relatively okay(fair/faint hits) until my burden nudged up a visible level. Suddenly I found myself bleeding and down to 20% health.(Before I could blind it)

The non-hostile nature of the royal guards makes them an easier hunt. Unless I want to take damage the darga vei need to be kept blinded(can't be paralysed) so more than one and I start getting beat on.

Anyone know of anything between darga vei and royal guards that carries boxes?

Some more darga vei boxes. I did alright health-wise so long as I kept at minimal encumberance(box contents left in boxes on the ground, cash dropped, etc.)

Box 3:

I really wish these materials just made them harder to open, rather than completely immune.(As seems to be the case)

This time I went in with Precognition and Telekinetic Leap going.

When I decided to leave I ran around gathering up the dropped cash and box goods. Boy did I take a beating. Down to 20% or so, at one point.

Skeletons and mountain gragrok are both easier than darga vei, and carry boxes.

FYI, in terms of how easy things are to kill -- I balanced out stats for all the critters yesterday, and generally they're all easier now. Some critters were WAY stronger than they should have been for their level. Darga are undoubtedly easier now, for example.

This has no effect on how hard their boxes are though.
