I know there's one somewhere else, but if anyone wants to post *original* poetry or songs, do it here. It can have to do with Hael or not. Also, if you'd like any poetic advice, ask here. I'm sure somebody can help you.

To start us off, a poem I wrote today about the hurricanes. Also, an alliteration experiment (unfinished as of yet):

Untitled

A growing Gale
With a gigantic Grudge
Generates Justice
Jury and Judge
Billowing Breeze
Bending Branches
Thundering through
It thrashes the thatches
It vents vehemently
It's Vengeance vast
Fiercely it falls
It's Fury fast

hmmm... I guess I'll contribute to help get things going. Little poem I wrote about 3 or so years ago...

In the darkness I patiently wait
with thoughts of death and sealing your fate
In my hand I hold your undoing
I smell your blood and yearn its flowing
A bullet to your head is not enough for me
I want to hurt you, torture you, watch you bleed
In the night your blood gleams black
As a bullet goes through you and out your back
I emerge from the darkness an angel of death
To finish the job, hear your last breath
I raise my blade and see fear in your eyes
"Your time has come, now you die!!"

these 3 poems where written at a time i was suffering my worst episode of manic depression

Alcoholic existence
This darkness falls around me,
like a shroud around my head,
Hands grasping at my soul,
tearing the blankets from my bed,
Sweat glistens on my body
and my hair is now all wet,
I sit here shivering with
my soul in a sweat,
My head is banging like a beaten
drum and my heart seems to be burning,
I sleep fitfully awaking to my bedroom still turning,
Yesterday's memories
return to me like a half-read page,
I try focus on the
reflection in the mirror to see a person twice my age,
I know my sickness
is self-inflicted and can only be cured by myself,
As i ponder just for a moment,
if only i'd left the
very first bottle on the wineshop shelf.

A peaceful haze,
Of carefree days,
Before my downfall came.
Is all i have to remind me?
Those things are not the same.
No job, no home, no hope,
No confidence to cope,
And all respect for myself has gone.
One smiling face,
A kind embrace,
Is all i need to carry on?

THIS poem was written for Holly and Jessicca

Innocence of a child
The innocence of a child,
So adventurous yet so naive,
A longing to be wild,
So easily deceived,
No understanding of where they are in life,
No understanding of where they can be led,
No knowledge of the living fears,
No comprehension of the dead,
An unrefined unfinished mould,
Of the adult that they might go on to become,
Sensitive to the feeling of being warm or cold,
Yet so naively numb,
We can try to guide their lives,
Teach them right from wrong,
We can protect them from the elements,
Nurture them and make them strong,
We can try hard to tame them,
Restrain their longing to be wild,
But nothing can protect them,
From the innocence of being a child.

i havent written any poems in 4 years now wich is a good thing as its only when at my lowest i tend to write them Smile

That's mostly when I write, also, like this one that I wrote after 9-11 happened. Seeing the Statue of Liberty through smoke reaching the heavens as well as losing a friend/colleague that day made me decide to write. (copyright CLN-2001)

Lone Lady
Standing tall,
Proud,
Free.
Torch held high,
Burning brightly
As she watches.

Lone Lady
Shaken.
Peering through smoke,
Debris,
Tears.
Eyes wide open now,
Too late,
As she weeps.

Lone Lady
Listening.
Hearing a pain
Over 3000 strong.
Each voice gathering,
Making her resolve
Stronger.

Lone Lady
Rising.
Carefully brushing back
Ashes and memories.
Looking forward
While glancing back,
Never forgetting...

a poem i wrote for a friends ig wedding <when will they get married i do not know. anyways i struggled to not kill them both off it's sappy but it's ok> although my favorite poem i wrote would be Red and body dance i just have to go find them.

~From Beginning to End~

Little boy little girl dancing in the street.
She scuffed her knee she cried po-tee-weet.
Little boy makes her laugh and kissed her cheek.
No more tears, no more leak.
Now they play hide and go seek.

Young lad young lass walk home in the day.
It’s a beautiful day in the month of May.
He carries her books as she walks with crutch.
She says you mustn’t do so much.
He grins and smiles a cheesy Dutch.

Young woman young man out watching the moons and stars.
Haggard man comes and stabs young man in the arms.
Young woman kicks haggard man in the head.
She came to his aid in good stead.
Now time to put young man to bed there no blood does shed.

Middle-aged man down on crooked knee.
He gives middle-aged woman his all in liberty.
He takes her hand and asks if she will.
She said she will with great thrill.
She and he live in peace on top of the hill.

Old man dies while chopping the wood.
Old woman thought if she should.
Old woman buries her love under the hill.
To join him or live does she have the will?
Old woman keens letting her tears spill.

Old man's spirit floats down from above
Old woman looks up and sees her love
Old man smiles and kisses her cheek
No more tears, no more leak.
Now they play hide and go seek.

Going through some of my old poems, decided to post this one because there seem to be a lot of us here with kids or new babies. Smile

I wrote this one on my son's first day of school, after dropping him off.
One of my few 'happy' poems, heh. (copywrite CLN-2000)

I am in awe of you,
Chubby cheeks,
Clever hands.
First day
Of school,
So proud I'm bursting.
Quiet house now,
Except for Mommy-tears
Falling.

I am in awe of you,
Eyes of his,
Smile of mine.
Your laughter
Is a rainbow
Breaking through a storm.
You once grew under my heart,
Now you are
My heart.

I am in awe of you,
Old beyond five,
Sensitive soul.
I kiss booboos,
Heal hurt feelings.
Wish I could
Protect and fix you
That easily
Always.

I am in awe of you,
Every day,
Every moment.
Watching you grow,
Learn,
Change.
My job is to teach you....
Yet, it's you who teaches
Me.

Anyone who's been to the Lake Lodge reception hall and had songs sung by Crooner Nusha Gaj has most likely read at least one of mine. Cool Anyway, here's another one.

Till The Sunlight Fades Away

Laughing, singing, and dancing in the sunlight,
a different person in the dark of night.
You're never the same when the sun goes down,
no more a smile, you're always wearing a frown.
Dancing in the sunlight,
laughing all through the day,
look at your face, it's so bright
till the sunlight fades away.
Oh beautiful child with hair of gold,
I wonder how you'll be when you grow old.
Playing your games with whoever will play,
you just go on from day to day.
Chorus:
Till the sunlight fades away.

hmmm lets see...which to post! Being a songwriter i have a TON of poems *grin* I'll put a couple

They say time heals all pain
But I gotta say their wrong
They say give love a chance
But I say that chance is gone.

Too much has come between us
Too many broken dreams
To make our love what its spose to be

They say forgive and forget
But how can i forget whats done
When I live with the fact
We’ve done things we shouldn’tve done

We can say that we’re sorry
Pretend to be happy
To make our love what its spose to be.

Chorus:
Who knew when we started out
We’d be where we are right now
Strugglin’ day to day
Tryin to make it work....some how

But I live with the rain
Pourin’ down inside of me
And I live with the hurt
And the infidelity
Can I put it all behind me
Can we free this misery
So we can make our love what its spose to be

Sometimes I wonder if
I shoulda moved right along
Instead of stayin here
Tryin to find a love thats gone
Some people say I’m crazy
But I think I just might see
The way our love is spose to be

But lookin’ now I know what I did was right
I didn’t throw in the towel
Didn’t give up the fight
And with some time and trust
I know its possible that we
Can make our love what its spose to be
C’mon babe let’s make our love what its spose to be
mmmmm
what its spose to be.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
This one I wrote right after my husband went over to Iraq and I saw all the War protests on TV...
~ Thoughts from a Military Wife ~
I see people line the streets
saying what we’re doing isn’t right
as I sit alone at home
away from my love this night
I think of what he stands for
and of all the families who
are going through what I am
the protesters have no clue
That my husband has been taken
to serve for them and me
His life is up for sacrifice
So that those protesters can be free
And as I hold my children
who just cant understand
I feel such hurt and sorrow
For all the misunderstanding in this land
Can they not remember
what happened not so long ago
When thousands perished for no reason
And we should just let that go?
Can they not understand
That we didn’t start this fight
That we are defending those innocents
who were killed and stripped of their rights
Can they just not comprehend
That we can’t wait and sit.
That we didn’t start this war,
But we sure will finish it.
We will finish it in the name
Of those who died that day.
Who weren’t given a chance to live their life.
As these protesters do this day.
If any should protest,
It shouldn’t be them but me
For the government has ripped apart
my home, my family.
And yet even though my love is gone
I stand here today and say
I am proud of the military and what they do
but mostly I’m proud of the USA.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

And finally, (i have alot of soldier/patriotic poems cuz i wrote alot when my hubby was gone *grin*) here is one i wrote over christmas last year...

Gazing out the window,
Snow falls gently to the ground.
Family and friends are calling,
Now that he’s not around.
As other celebrate,
She sits alone in tears.
But she wouldn’t have it any other way
At Christmas time this year.

Thousands of miles aways,
He looks up at the sky.
His tent is not the warm home,
That he’s dreamin of tonight.

Other’s are reading letters
While some are fast asleep,
But he sits alone and knows that he,
Is doing the right thing.

For many just dont understand
That there are those far away,
Protecting this land we love so much,
On this Christmas day.

And even though he’s away,
She loves him even more.
For giving up his holidays,
To help prevent a war.

For soldier’s don’t get a break
For holidays and such.
So remember those that protect us all
During your Christmas.

No firelight, no carols,
No cookies, no Santa no fuss.
No tree or decorations...
It’s a soldier’s Christmas.

They sit gazing at the sky,
Love travels over the miles.
As they gaze at each other picture,
A tear falls as they smile.

For they promised as he left
That at this moment in time.
They’d gaze up at the sky and know
They were on the other’s mind.

And they would share this moment.
Even though worlds apart.
A soldier in his tent...
A wife, sits all alone.
Though they are not together
They’re together in their hearts.

A song, by me:

I don't know where I'm goin
I don't know where I have been
I don't know what I'm doin
I can only pretend
That I know where this life will end up
If I don't run I'll be left in dust

Don't try to hide, can't find the time, don't cross the line
Don't try to hide, can't find the time, don't cross the line

The line it is thinning
No end or beginning
The questions are spinning
Around in my head

What were we put here to do
What tests are we to go through
What purpose are we to serve
Is this the punishment that we deserve

We always hide inside ourselves
Pretend that everything is fine
If I keep this up
I may lose my mind
They say they know where our lives will end up
They say our pureness has been left to rust

Don't try to hide, can't find the time, don't cross the line
Don't try to hide, can't find the time, don't cross the line

The light it is dimming
The darkness descending
The lives we are lended
Are taken aback

What were we put here to do
What tests are we to go through
What purpose are we to serve
Is this the punishment, that we deserve
