if our role would be a para-polizei, why not bring back the ability to make arrests that was a feature of the Ael'Sor? (go beau). those cells did come in handy once or twice, especially with such horrendous incidents as dixie's indecent exposure in front of the security cameras. troopers could be issued handcuffs that would ignore the usual 'follow' structure, though i foresee abuse of that. perhaps make that an option at higher levels, or enable those with high enough locksmithing to pick loose from their cuffs and escape. _________________ You say, "Wisdom, courage, temperance, justice."

I could see grenades being realistically a "controlled substance" of sorts. I don't know too many civilians who can get their hands on them RL. Though also I don't know of anything stopping them from being able to operate one if they did. I think they'd be a good candidate for a "Trooper only" store.
I could see other more high-techy combat items only being usable by Troopers, because they'd be the only ones specifically "trained" by their guild on how to do so. _________________ Behind every optic is a mathematic. |

Are they magical military boots that don't let certain people wear them?

I wouldn't have a problem with them being in a Trooper store. But black markets tend to develop. And hand grenades aren't exactly a high tech item requiring specialized knowledge (neither are those boots). _________________ ** The phrase "break a leg" just wasn't ambitious enough for Mellie Knight. To me Trooper = Army = Grenade.

That has absolutely nothing to do with answering the question. If Mellie hands me a grenade, am I supposed to not know how to pull the pin and throw it? _________________ ** The phrase "break a leg" just wasn't ambitious enough for Mellie Knight. [8:31 pm]

Well, maybe troopers get that training lesson in "not blowing yourself up".
You can say the same thing on why I can't learn guardian-only stances. It's just a special way to position yourself, right?

I think even 8 year old non-Trooper Yaru could figure out how to throw a live grenade so it's not next to him when it blows up. Or maybe not. _________________ ** The phrase "break a leg" just wasn't ambitious enough for Mellie Knight. [8:31 pm]

Maybe troopers should get a thrown weapons bonus when considering grenades? :\
I think this is more one of those 'suspension of belief' things, than "it logically makes sense that only so and so knows how to use this explosive" _________________ A bright-eyed Thekko Ku Kalla dressed in a dapper sailor suit takes to flight and careers through the air toward the Modan Kucho and slams into him!

The profession that should have absolute ownership of grenades is clearly Artisans. I mean, duh. _________________ "Wise men talk because they have something to say; fools, because they have to say something." -- Plato

No, but you'll have trouble using the fingerprint scanner that's coded to Mellie. Or to some special piece of Trooper equipment. Or you wouldn't pull the pin for fear of the killer robot monkeys who devour deviants who illegally possess explosives.
I don't mean to sound like an ass, but these aren't the DR boards. You don't need to argue every single "profession-territory" issue just because you can, and you don't need to assume someone is trying to rape you at every opportunity. _________________ -Downtweak
