Okay, so...either the broker bonus is off at Terevo's, some stat/skill enhancement isn't being taken into account or there's some something off in the player calculations for the broker bonus told to me.
...OR, not unlikely, I'm all messed up in my head.
Just thought I'd mention it though. It happened a bunch of times before, but I didn't think about it then. Shrugged it off, assuming the customer sold some market-reduced item.
Standing at Terevo's to broker:
Enhancements used - Alluring Aura, Dance of Temptation + camp fire
Charisma 34 (4
Persuasion 36 (47)
All commods sold by this customer were unaffected in the market.
You broker on behalf of Yaru Dex and sell 215 units for a total of $2300.
Which gives me a 10.697674... per unit sale
But based on the calcs told to me, I should have sold at around 10.73 per unit?
Math is evil. Anyway, just wanted to tell other brokers and see if they had an answer.
Belethe
p.s. After the shock, I stupidly trained up 1 charisma, so i can't do further testing and when I brokered with myself it was 10.7 per unit. (I still believe the calculation for broker bonus rounds down in the actual brokering, but I can't explain the odd 10.69...)

Are you factoring in that the price per unit is dropping for each bundle/potion/other "stack' of items sold? For instance, if you have 5x50 units of ivy, after each of those bundles sold you'd have a drop.
bundle 1 sells, drop, 4 bundles left
bundle 2 sells, drop, 3 bundles left
... and so on.
Also note all calculations round down. The game considers 0.99999 to be 0 for example. There is precision math used for brokering but even this can be a little off due to the rounding. _________________ "Wise men talk because they have something to say; fools, because they have to say something." -- Plato

IT DROPS!?!?
I knew potions dropped because it was so obvious, but I didn't know that commodities dropped in a broker multi-bundle sell. People totally need to tell me these things. ::shake fist::
But wait...then wouldn't people prefer to broker one bundle of the same item at a time since it appears to revert back to the ticker price after each broker? Ack! Then money-grubbing people (like me) may insist on brokering one bundle at a time and I could be standing at Terevo's for ages.
Or am I confused..but the commod prices didn't change on the ticker, so...
Oh my head.... This is why I make a lousy game tester type. I usually just accept things the way they are until someone figures out something's broke. Except because I want to help people get the most out of their brokering, I fret about bonuses and SEE!! This is what happens, utter chaos in brain-land.
Ugh...I have to change my brokering info page again.
But yay! I was right about the rounding down. I like being right.
Thanks, Trevor.

I thought only potions dropped in price, and in my experiance on the broker even then they all sell at the same price per unit, for that broker? _________________ One must have knowledge beyond learning, and wisdom beyond understanding to say what can or cannot be. |

Broker bonuses round down.
215 units * $10/unit = $2150
Bonus = (48+47)/13 = 7.3 -> 7
$2150 * 1.07 = $2300.5 -> $2300 _________________ ** The phrase "break a leg" just wasn't ambitious enough for Mellie Knight. [8:31 pm]

Hmm. Man, broker sucks. <grin> Really, it sucks to maintain, it's pretty messy. Potions and other commodities should all act the same, and if they don't, it's a bug. _________________ "Wise men talk because they have something to say; fools, because they have to say something." -- Plato

They don't. At this point I think it would be pretty funny if you changed it so that selling a commodity lowers its price. _________________ ** The phrase "break a leg" just wasn't ambitious enough for Mellie Knight. [8:31 pm]

Actually, the bug was that the prices of potions never went down OR up.
I think potions are supposed to start at 50 and go down as they're sold.
So now the potion prices will finally go back up to 50. |

Nope, higher level potions are supposed to have (slightly) progressively higher prices. And potion prices definitely do go down. _________________ ** The phrase "break a leg" just wasn't ambitious enough for Mellie Knight. [8:31 pm]

Isn't 50 just the multiplier for each unit?
ie: if a unit is worth $1, then $1 * 50 = $50. if a unit is worth $2, then etc etc etc.
I thought all materials start off with a multiplier of 10 (and the price depends on how much you refine it) with all potions starting off at 50. |

Quoting from your posts in New potion Prices trevor:
Quote: |
As a followup, I have tweaked how potion values are affected when sold. They now use a different formula than other commods. If sold like crazy, they also cap at a minimum $12 per unit (which of course is miserable money for a potion).
Also, Bureaucrats will lower potion values too when they sell them, but at less than half the rate of non 'crats. |
You have said that potions would lose value, but nothing about commodities losing value when brokered. _________________ One must have knowledge beyond learning, and wisdom beyond understanding to say what can or cannot be. |

I don't know where you're getting these numbers from. Each potion/poison price has its own (almost always) different ceiling. More skill-intensive formulas tend to have higher prices, which you can see on the ticker. Only Elixir of Rifts ever manages to top 50.
Let's say I'm broke because Haidee spent my last credit on gamojab chow. So I take a 63 dose crackling potion to Terevo and see what he'll give me for it. I have ( 228 ) persuasion and ( 143 ) charisma, and the ticker is reading 46.5 for Rime Potions. How much will I get from selling (which will probably quickly be spent on pet food again)?
Price offered to mortal non-Bureaucrats (neglecting their charisma) = 63 doses * $46.5/dose = $2929.5 -> $2929
My bonus = ( 228 + 143 ) / 13 = 28.54 -> 28%
Price offered to me = $2929 * 1.28 = $3749.12 -> $3749
Then after selling, the price depresses by some amount so that the next Rime Potion would sell for less until the price recovers. _________________ ** The phrase "break a leg" just wasn't ambitious enough for Mellie Knight. [8:31 pm]
